I'm sure glad there wasn't any needle on that syringe..
Don't look now, Ook is trying to wake Irv by squirting espresso into Irv's ears...

*Irv's head moves, and the espresso goes straight into his mouth. He drinks the tea, drinks the chicken soup, and drinks the water, and then sits up, his normal Goo skin tone restored*
What a strange aftertaste I've discovered.
Hello, everybody. Lots of new people here. Some familiar faces, too.
Ummmm... I think my regulars/ staff lists are horribly outdated. If anyone wants to email me with names of people who should be on there by now, please do. My email's on the main café page.

So this is the infamous Irving of whom I have read much.
*looks sheepish*

A café without a proprietor is like a ... .. umm, err.
Well, anyway. Nice to have you back so you can update the café page.
BTW those cardboard cutouts are really realistic!

Irving Washington - Gone Writing Posted Aug 24, 2001
Um... thanks. I don't think I put those cutouts there. They must be since the BBC.
It's good to be back, though I admit the changes are a bit overwhelming. All these new rules...

Morning Everybody. Does it get busy in here at weekends?

Nice ACE badge!
I'm not sure. I think it does... or maybe not. I've been gone so long and things have changed, see. Apparently most of the regulars now use the café during the hours I'm usually asleep (now).

Ah, the joy of timezones and the internet. You know even though this is a british site there are a lot of other people here too. I've noticed quite a lot of Europeans about.
* looks in the cupboard for a spelugx cutout *
I wonder where I can order one of these.

New? New, you say? That sounds like the job for an ACE! Spelugx, show Minifig what ACEs do
Yes, I realize there are Europeans and Brits and Aussies and Kiwis about. Me, personally, I'm nothing but an ugly American, and my café seems to be attracting people from accross oceans!

Minifig Thom Posted Aug 25, 2001
where abouts in ugly america are you from?
The One And Only Aroma Café is open!
Bluebottle Posted Aug 25, 2001
Apparently, one of the ugly bits.
Most of us here are Scaninavian. Or that's how it seems I, though, am a Caulkhead, and proud.

I wouldn't call america ugly (and I'm an American hating-on-principal Brit). Some parts are apparently quite nice. The things I don't like are the politics and attitudes towards the rest of the world.
Thom - An ace is someone who is supposed to :-
o set and example to the rest of the h2g2 community;
o enthousiatically meet and greet new researchers;
o encourage and stimulate participation in h2g2;
o offer guidance to Researchers.
Oh, and be pernickety about poor grammar

America, the land itself, is quite attractive. However, my fellow Americans are another story. It's amazing, concidering how many freedoms, privlages, etc we have that we still manage to screw ourselves over so often -- and what's even more amazing is that so many other countries look to us as examples! If America weren't so influential in world politics, I think that more countries would be democratic right now. Oh, and we'd be well on our way to restoring some of the damage mankind has done to the .
Anyway, I'm from Arizona, currently going to school in one of the particularly nice bits -- Flagstaff. When most people think of Arizona they think desert, cacti, canyons, etc, which I think are really pretty themselves, but this part is high elevation with lots of mountains and pine forests.
Now, then, anyone want something while I'm behind the counter?

*Gets for Hobbes*
Minifig, I hope you didn't think I was taking offense. But since the conversation turned towards what, exactly, about America was ugly I had my little rant.
...I remember when I was an ACE. That was back before I started doing my homework.
