WEEK FIVE
Ormondroyd Posted Jan 31, 2004
Why? They're away to Everton next week, so everyone would just pick United to win, choose van Nistelrooy as the scorer and spell his name wrong as usual. Not very interesting, really.

i know that. but i thought we were'nt having anymore Arsenal OR United games, but we have an Arsenal one and look what the predictions are so i thought a United one would even it out a bit

Number Six Posted Feb 1, 2004
May I make a sensible point? What do we usually do when a game gets called it off? It's not happened before when I've been playing...
Mind you, what do I care - I'm right off football, me

What usually happens is I make it up as I go along
As I've already got the week 6 games worked out, I won't be adding to them. So I think what I'll do is carry your predictions for the Hartlepool game over until is eventually played, and then add any points to your Week 5 totals. A sort of 'Week 5a' if you will.
I've done a preliminary marking of the 3 games so far, and it makes for some interesting reading. Three players have scores for every match; another three have Full Houses; Robbie Keane is responsible for 22 scorer points; and one traditionally lousy player is doing somewhat OK this week.

Uncle Heavy asked for a Pools Panel predictions for this week, so here they are.
Arsenal 0-1 Manchester City
Fulham 1-1 Spurs
Portsmouth 1-2 Wolves
Norwich 2-0 Sheffield United
Hartlepool 1-2 Luton Town
... with no scorer points
I hope he likes them

Henry and Keane definitely came up with the goods this week. Loads and loads of scorer points all over the shop for those two! The mystery player was indeed Michael Brown, so that's another 2 bonus points this week for Egon.
Owing to Hartlepool's match being suspended. There will be no points awarded for that match at this stage. If I remember I will award points based upon your current predictions once the postponed match is played later in the season.

The Results:
Arsenal 2-1 Manchester City (TARNAT, Henry, Anelka)

Oops!
After exhaustive investigation into this unfortunate matter, it has been decided that the BBC (Big Bottletop Chappy) is completely in the wrong and needs to offer an grovelling apology to the governing body of H2G2 Fantasy Football League, recognising that mistakes have been made, and the need to learn from them.
(Getting your facts right before shooting off at the mouth being one)
Sorry Mate

Yay! I'm rolling in the full houses this season!
And shame on anyone who couldn't predict a 0-0 draw between two clubs whose combined strike force consists of Teddy 'Too Slow' Sheringham and Carl 'One Goal' Cort...
