FANTASY FOOTBALL - Season IX - "The Latin One"

Hello there and welcome to this, the ninth season of the h2g2 Fantasy Football League. Kick off is scheduled to be the weekend of the 3rd/4th of January 2004 
The Rules & Regulations
1) How the game is structured
Each weekend the management will select five games from the fixture lists for the following weekend and will post them in a new thread attached to this page.
The games will typically be taken from the English Premier League as that is the league that most people seem to know something about. However games will from time to time be selected from all manner of other sources, for example Divisions 1 to 3 of the Football League, Scottish Premier League and may be even International matches if they happen to be convenient within the calendar. 
2) How to play the game
What you as the players do, is use your knowledge, skill, guile, and if need be blind guessing to predict:
- The match score
- The name of a player that you think will score in the match
Then post your answers to the appropriate thread1, and sit back and wait for when Saturday comes2 along and I post the answers and the points that you've won for your selections.
3) Scoring the points
All quite simple really...
- Two points for the correct result - win, lose or draw
- One bonus point for the correct score line
- One point if the selected scorer scores at any time during the game
- One bonus point if the selected scorer scores the first goal in the game
These then get totted up and tabulated in the Fantasy Football League Table below.
4) What if I'm going to miss a week?
Don't fret, there is a system in place to cope with folk missing a week's matches. We call it the Fantasy Football Pools Panel.
The idea is that if you can't make a selection for one reason or another, a computer programme will make your selections for you. However, you must give notice on one of the threads that you want a Pools Panel pick - requests made after the closing date will not be allowed.
5) What do I win? 
Apart of course from the respect, and in some cases envy, of your peers, there is a fantastic REAL LIFE prize that will be awarded.
