This busy market is the most crowded in all the kingdom. Colorful signs advertise for different booths such as "ALL MAGIC ITEMS 25% OFF" "DAGGERS HALF PRICE" and "SHIELDS ON SALE TODAY ONLY."
An excellent oppourtunity for buisiness.

The jester accidentally drops a particularly nasty dark sword in the dirt and a little girl trips over it. She got a deep cut from it, and some of her blood trickles down the sharp crooked blade. It begins to transform into a hideous monster!!!
"GGGRRRAARROOAAAWWWWWWAAAOOOAAARRRRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!" It snaps it's sharp yellow teeth at the poor little girl who only just crawls out of the way in time. She was cut so bad she is unable to get up!
[Jester] Oh no! How could that have happened!? Don't worry, miss! I'll save you!!!
He runs to her rescue, but trips and falls inbetween her and the beast.
The huge form of the beast casts a shadow over both of them as it prepares to strike!

This creates a huge commotion in the street with townspeople running away from the evil beast.

This beta test may turn into the next Organized Quest. It's my monster, but it's a peer-to-peer roleplay event so I can't tell you what to do, except for what's in the Rules page at "A5191030"

[Gandark] Oh no!!! We've gotta do something!
please state your character name and rank like I did when first posting to a thread, and remember to include your character's name in each post. otherwise it gets really hard for other people to keep track of. Thank you!

}thud{ }thud!{ }THUD!{ (sound of a fist pounding against an old heavy wooden double-set of doors w/iron bracings)
"Hello!" "I'm new here." To self: yes that sounds good. : Wait. No it doesn't.
"Anyway, I meant ta 'pologize 'bout the nasty turn of the weather. Howling wind and the purple rain from the green clouds...well, you could say that I'm the one who's to blame. "
Attempts to adjust hair out of face (somewhat unsuccessfully), and shifts monocle.
"Is anybody there?"
Hmm...
"Can s'mbody please lemme in?"
"... is that the smell of pizza?"
s a bit @ himself. Snaps the fingers of one hand, and through summoning & conjury manages to get a cup out of thin air and brew some .
"There. Tha's much better.-Well somewhat better anyway."
The wind dies down.

"Why, yer in luck m'lad, for 'distraction' is my middle name (...course that's just the best translation in overland tongue for it). It's rather hard to pronounce in the native one, mind you.

Jus''cuz I'm a 'uman doesn't mean I haven't talent @ use of an bedeviling infernal machine or two. Aha! Wait! Come back,(small wind-up man w/a sifter shuffles off, . . . the wrong way). Checks other sleeve: "Or was it over here... Aah!"
(Clockwork doll carrying a sickle goes beserk). Drops large, suddenly materialized rock on top of the sickle-doll. Sifter, sits by it, confused like. "Stupid automatons!"
(kicks rock) "Owch! "
(Coaxes and convinces sifter to take up sickle instead).
"And me w/out an extended warranty ta boot! That Artificer man sure got me good. Or wait, was he a lizard-guy instead? That'd explain why he was green and scaley. Hmm..."

I always hated ta . "Please, please, please can I goan join up on a quest with somebodys? I gotta really useful special move. Wanna see?"
Gives 'fancy' demo: Sticks one hand out w/fingers curled outward and lifts other one above head waving the fingers (It's ) "Hah!"
( A big rock materializes out of the sky in front of him and falls) down). }Whamph!{ (...Raising a small, but noticeable cloud of dust as it does so).
"While whattya think?"
And tha's not all, I can conjure up knives and swords an' daggers (oh my!)."
"hey I heard that wisecrack about 'dusty blade-mage.' Think tha's funny do you? Well (sighs), I guess I should go back 'n re-consult the codex a bit."
To self: Add to my to-do list:
Item: Find something more impressive to summon.

The monster strikes at the two victims, who are now scrambling to get out of the way. The jester tries to grab the bleeding little girl but the monster positions it's head between them and roars at the jester. This scares him so much he jumps up in the air like a Dragoon.
[Gandark] Well, first help defeat this monster!
remember, you don't have control of the monster. On your next turn you can say things like "attacks monster" or "throws sword at monster" or "jumps on top of monster" but not "monster dies" or "monster does something" you see what I mean?

: Can I send out my sifter (the one I had Sharp arm w/a sickle) to try and do something?
[Sharp]: now If I just happened to have a proper wizarding implement, some sort of a rudimentary rod,...
: Say do we get Items in this kind of a game? How does that work out?
[Sharp]: , there's your distraction, ... um, a little help (over here)?

Thorn Posted Oct 1, 2005
[Sharp]: Eh, who needs one of those anyway. Dumb trend started by that Gandalf fellow ages ago. Using the hands for magic goes back way further and has a nice sort of retro-chique to it in a way...
(To the monster): you've proven to us all just what sorta a pest you can be. *Attempts to throw daggers in a tight knit circle around monster*
: So, okay, what happens next?
Heroville Market
Thorn Posted Oct 1, 2005
[Sharp]There. Maybe I've met It's mettle, no?
: No. Not really.
[Sharp]: "I'll be a dark blade-mage yet!"

The monster seems to have been driven into an ineffective fury by your attacks. It spins around frantically, revealing that it's tail is actually the sword that started the whole mess.
[Gandark] Somebody grab the tail! I'll try and keep it turned so you can get it!
*casts Bolt on monster*

[Aeryn]: *walks in to market from the sidestreets, having just walked all day for three weeks just to get here*
*Notices battle with monster*
*stands indecisive for a few seconds, not wanting to get involved in anything*
*sighs, drops her bag and starts edging around the buildings, keeping to the shadows, trying to get close enough to the girl to get her to safety. The other two were on their own*
