Let me assure you that your English is fine...but then again I'm not all that fussy or 'picky' or anything. Anyway, I'm one of the assistant community editors here, otherwise known as <./>aces</.>. We greet newbies such as yourself and help you get settled. Take your time reviewing my colleague Feisor's list of Hints and Links at A719840. And be sure to examine the various features in the process, there's alot to see. One example are the colourful assortment of <./>smileys</.>. But of course you'll find much much more.
The h2g2 Post's Links Page contains links to the Researchers' Map(at A5076614)and many other points of interest. There are also the Regional Reseachers' Groups(at A660313)and the Personal Space Workshop at A1123354. Feisor refers you to Spicing Up Your User Page, however I think that the Workshop might be a useful supplement to that...just my . Again I think your English is fine, but should you be interested you'll also find The h2g2 Language Thing at A1145477 ...and particularly the German Department at A2718001.
If you have any questions feel free to leave me a message. Simply use the 'Reply' button and I'll try to respond promptly, alright.

Hallo Darrell,
matodemi was actually my very first name in the internet 6 years ago, and it contains my name and that of my children (the T is from my eldest sun *smile, since I call myself Tina but correctly it would be Martina, which noone really uses for me, not even myself )

Ah good to hear from you so soon matodemi(or Tina)! Oh and you're quite welcome Yes of course I Always have some left!(Actually I Always have - how much is left...varies.) I've found over the years that German (usually bittersweet)is a favourite of mine. So I have Ritter Sport, both the dark with marzipan & the extra dark with 71% cocoa solids. I also have some organic Vivani with essential orange oils - http://www.vivani.de/index_englisch.html .
I had thought that it might be Martina...or I've also heard Bettina(& shortened to either Betty or Tina). But yes this is a good place to practice your English. B'Elana, Tavaron & Malabarista who'll you'll 'meet' eventually are also in Germany. Oh and speaking of B'Elana & the others, you'll find their photos in azahar's photo gallery - a link is on/at A20917604.
Hope to stay in touch!

Hi Tina, hi jaz'd *waves*
Tina, I'm German, too, and I've seen you've alreday joined the Language Thing (your post there actually brought me here because I seem to be still subscribed to it).
I see you live in Düsseldorf, which isn't very far from where Sho lives. A friend of mine used to live in Düsseldorf (she moved to Bruxelles recently), and I recall some nice places to go in Kaiserswerth, where I once visited her.
Hope to see you around.
Bel

Good morning Darrell,
yes, both Martina and Bettina are shortened to Tina.
When visiting England for the first time (at the age of 14 - 30 years ago) I found out, that Martina is difficult to pronounce for english speaking people so from then on I called myself Tina.
I love bittersweet choclat as well, or I buy Milka choclat (but actually I don't eat choclat very often, which is better for me because I am just loosing some weight).
Thanks for the links, I'll have a look a the fotos
Have a nice day
Tina

Good morning Bel,
do you live in Germany as well - or are you in exile?
And if you do, whereabout do you live?
Kaiserswerth is a very nice place, tough it is exactly on the other side of Düsseldorf seen from the place where I live.
I'll try to be around here as often as possible, but sometimes real life is more important and demanding
Have a nice day

Good morning Tina! (Very early morning here, I've yet to get to bed! http://www.worldtimeserver.com & I'm in Alberta, Canada.)

Oh Darrell,
then I wish you a good night *smile
I do actually have relatives in Canada - but unfortunately no contact to them. But they live around Toronto.
What time is it now in Alberta? (it is just 9 a.m. in Düsseldorf now, and I am off soon for an interview, hoping to get a job soon).

That's ok, yes I do need to get to bed! Again at the interview...& I might catch you later in the day. *waves*

Thanks for wishing me good luck.
The interview was quite okay - but since it was with a time-sharing company I don't know if a job will come out of it.
Anyway it is a chance and I think positively
Hope you have a good nights sleep
see you later

Hello Tina, I live in Frankfurt/Main, so not that far away from Düsseldorf.
Like you, I feel that I was born in the wrong country.
Hope you'll hear back soon about the job.

matodemi Posted Jun 8, 2007
Hallo B'Elana,
Frankfurt really isn't that far away (okay, the DB wants an incredible amount of money for the distance, to fly might be cheaper but is no good for the environment).
I do hope so much to get a proper Job - at the moment I have what is called an 1-Euro-Job (if anyone wants to know what that is, just ask).
So you can immagine that I am even willing to work for a time-sharing company (slave-traders as they are though )

I've got a Bahncard 25, so that saves some train fares, but not too many.
What sort of work are you looking for?

Good day ladies!
Time-sharing...ok Tina. Slave-traders you say? So they are quite willing to take a large portion of your time, but Not share their wealth.<laug...
The friend I'm meeting later has often wondered aloud-during the winter-why our grandparents-his from Germany, mine from Ukraine-settled here & not in California or the southern U.S.(somewhere warmer).
