Najo, Saturday 12/11/11 Right, left, left

I'm just home from the hospice. Elderly relative is holding up extremely well, all things considered. Cancer is now in her brain though and between that and the medications she can be a bit confused - still, it's nice enough confusion - nothing disturbing.smiley - zen

I noticed last week and again tonight that the journey to-from the hospice is a bit weird.smiley - weird

I have to cross town from South Belfast to North Belfast and usually go right through the city centre. For some bizarre reason the journey from city centre to hospice is longer than the journey from hospice to city centre. I can't quite figure out why. On the way to the hospice there's a bit of a one-way system going on but there's a bit of a different one-way system to be negotiated on the way back.smiley - erm

I think tomorrow evening when I go I'll set the milometre in the car and see if it is a perceived difference, a time warp or an actual difference.smiley - headhurts

Najo, Friday 11/11/11 Ignore button

This evening's journal is early because I'm in that sort of mood.

I'd like to wish Bea and Dai many happy years.smiley - bubbly

I'd also like to thank every single serviceman past and present who values my life and indeed my way of life before their own. Thank you.

I'd also like to comment on the news stories of the past day and my own newsfeed on fb.smiley - erm

I noticed that more poppies were sold this year than last (according to the beeb) and I wondered was that helped by the people purchasing them to burn them? Really I'm not bothered if some factions did just that because the only place a poppy can be purchased in the UK is from a representative of the Royal British Legion and if anyone bought some with the intention of burning them they did in fact support the Legion by their purchase. For that I thank them. I prefer to wear mine with pride.

The other news story was the large black ribbon that a 'friend' of mine posted on her wall to remember IRELAND'S dead. This was accompanied by the Sinn Fein war cry 'our day will come'. Big news is that their day has come and gone. It is abhorrent to tarnish 11/11 with the memory of terrorists responsible for murdering more of their own people than any other faction or force in the Northern Ireland 'troubles'.

I normally don't post politics here but I'm very tempted to remind her of some of 'IRELAND'S' dead murdered by her 'heroes' .....

Najo, Thursday 10/11/11

Good evening all.

It's been rather a random day all things considered.smiley - weird

While reflecting on the events of the day I realised it was all just a bit off kilter.

It all started at about 8.40 when I was in the shower. I thought I heard someone hammering on the front door. Then I thought I heard it again. Then I turned the water off. Then I heard someone hammering on the back door.*tsk*

This was strange because I rarely have visitors and even more rarely do they call at such an inconvenient time - just when I'm getting ready for work.smiley - rolleyes

Anyway, I went downstairs covering my modesty with a rather large smiley - towel and shouted out the back door 'Who is it"? I could see the outline of a rather large person through the glass.smiley - bigeyes "I'm here to read the metre" was the reply. "I'm getting ready for work" I said. "Just call it out to me" he said. "Well go round to the front door then" I said. And he did. I called out the reading and he went away but it left me out of sorts.smiley - erm

There were a couple of oddities in work today too - but I can't divulge them due to patient confidentiality but I know you believe me.smiley - winkeye

When I picked daughter up from school she announced that she'd like to go to South Africa next year with a youth club (of which she isn't a member) and paint houses, build schools and play with children in the hospice. It costs £1,000 but she can raise this with sponsorship and she'd really like to do it - so long as South Africa doesn't have snakes or spiders.smiley - rolleyes We'll see.

On the way home in the car the news was all about the fall of the Eurozone and it might just fall apart next year. That got me to wondering if I should start gathering all those pesetas that are lying around in the drawer - maybe they'll be worth something again?smiley - huh

Oh, and just to top it off the handle of the loo broke (I blame Ivan for turning all the world's best brains to his bog brush and therefore concentrating all their energy on all thing lavatorial) so we have to resort to pulling the metal hook in the cistern by hand until I can get to a large diy store!

Najo, Wednesday 09/11/11 Lights, Camera, Action

Well the night of the big video shoot arrived and it was very exciting.smiley - boing

My nephew is a film producer and he put together a little team of people to shoot the video. The crowd turned up just about the right amount of time after the technical team and they helped literally set the stage.

The song was played again and again while a couple of cameras caught daughter from almost every angle. They then played it again and again to catch the audience and daughter from every angle. They then played it again and again to catch daughter and the audience from every angle. The audience took direction well and did loads of audience type things again and again just so that no piece of audience type stuff was missed, from every angle.

Technically, this is only one part of the video in the can but the rest should be easier involving some location shots. All told the video has taken three and a half hours actual shooting time (couldn't count the planning hours) and no doubt another couple of hours for the shots still to come. The song is some 2.12 mins long ..... go figure?!smiley - weird

Najo, Tuesday 08/11/11

Sorry about yesterday. It was more than a bit of a cop out but I was so relaxed and not running about that it completely left my addled brain that I was supposed to be writing a journal a day until about two minutes before the end of the day.smiley - headhurts

Anyway, despite not sleeping very well I awoke bright eyed and bushy tailed so had a pretty decent day at work.

After work I went to the hospice to see elderly relative who was also in fine spirits.

When I got home we were pulling together the last strings of tomorrow night's video shoot so we're all ready to go.

Now I'm doing more washing and hoping to be asleep before 2.00am because I so want tomorrow to go well.

When things settle down I'll turn my thoughts and hopefully journal to more interesting things but a the moment it's just about all I can manage to reflect on the events of the day.
