In yesterday's journal I mentioned that it was autumn. Technically the winter is in but in fact it's still really autumnal.

Today was a pretty perfect example of an autumn day. The wind was blowing a gale trying to dislodge what's left of the leaves on the trees and some of them are holding on for dear life. They're mostly deep reds or shades of orange now and some branches have only one or two leaves left. I suspect if those leaves gave up and fell that the wind would give over and settle itself.smiley - erm

Meanwhile, it's still blowing.smiley - puff

As the day wore on the sky changed from that pale grey associated with this time of year and the blueish/greyish/blackish clouds rolled in. At first they only brought that spitting type rain, the sort that you can walk in and could possibly avoid the raindrops altogether if it weren't for the blessed wind blowing them right into your face!smiley - rolleyes

A couple of hours later and the medium sized wet raindrops arrived. They bring lots of water and make the bottom of your jeans really wet and your feet cold.smiley - erm

Still the wind blows.smiley - puff

It's the November Rain a friend sent me (again referencing yesterday's journal) - love the song, hate the weather. smiley - weird

Well, as day one goes this has been pretty normal for me in that it's been a bad day.smiley - erm

Woke up today and went to work feeling full of the joys of .... well autumn really. It was cold but the sun was shining. Work was still there so I went in and got on with it.smiley - headhurts

By 11.00am it was clear that it was not going to be a good day.smiley - sadface

Phoned elderly relative to find she'd had no breakfast - not because her carers hadn't arrived but because they had, they left her breakfast but she was too weak to eat it herself. Phoned her son and told him to get down to her and see that she was fed while I dealt with the rest of the problem. Anyway, she is now to have more carers come in for breakfast and lunch - to feed her and the family will take up the teatime call. Death isn't pretty and it isn't easy but her sons aren't dealing with the necessary and that leaves me and another family female making the decisions and doing the work.

Picked daughter up from her sleepover/halloween party thingy at lunchtime and she was upset. It transpires that the young lad I'd heard about on the news this morning, killed by a hit and run driver while walking home from a halloween party, was a friend of hers. Daughter knew both boys through a family member and they'd been to a few parties in the same crowd. The boys were walking home when he was hit, the other boy wasn't injured. He was just 17. smiley - cry

I seriously hope tomorrow will be uneventful.

What a weekend

Well this journal a day thing is starting tomorrow. I was going to do the novel thing as well but as usual I'm thwarted before I even start.

I had such a busy weekend .... halloween seems to have lasted forever this year.smiley - puff

Friday after work daughter was to a halloween jammie party, I collected her at 10.30 and delivered her to another friends house for a 'sleepover'smiley - vampire

Saturday, Drama in the morning then straight across town to my help care for a terminally ill relative. Back home to deliver daughter to halloween party. Just enough time to get myself showered and dresed for a family halloween/30th birthday party.smiley - ghost

Sunday, up, showered, dressed to pick daughter up from her party and make our way to local hotel for large family lunch. After that back to the elderly aunt's house to give some more care and attention. Dropped brother off to work before sitting down at 7.00pm. smiley - sigh

I was sooooo tired I was glad to get to work today for a break.smiley - yawn

Now, home from work and just waiting for daughter to present herself downstairs in costume so I can drop her off at another halloween party.smiley - blackcat

Just wake me when it's over.smiley - zzz

You're so vain .....

..... you probably think this post is about you.smiley - tongueout

Is it my imagination or has everyone lost the plot?smiley - weird

I can hardly keep up with the reading from people who think that they're being picked on, offended, misrepresented, over-worked, suffering of their art or whatever.smiley - huh

I always thought the point of this site was the guide, the community, the fun. The main purpose being writing, reading (those two are inter-changeable)and socialising.

It's become like Frankenstein's monster - being re-launched and run by committee.

Everybody and his aunt wants a say in moderating, guiding, aceing, offending, ruling and over-ruling. Life doesn't tend to work that way. I wouldn't blame NPL if they just took a step back and put 'the management' in place. Nameless, faceless and couldn't care lessless. In fact I might just applaud them.smiley - applause

If h2g2 is going to come of age maybe it's time to act it.smiley - 2cents

Is there a rewind button?

I'd like to rewind today. Let's start again from about 7.00am.smiley - ok

Daughter is getting messed about by teachers during her GCSE final year. Just found out Aunt is in hospital. Spent every free second today reading a thread from it's first post some 4 weeks ago to get to the end of it and find it's been closed (after about a gazillion pages). Finally, see that an entry I'd been doing some research on has been snapped up by someone else.smiley - headhurts

I didn't like today and would like to it again.smiley - sigh
