Najo, Sunday 06/11/11 Free

There isn't much in life we get for free but this evening daughter went to a free concert at Belfast City Hall thanks to all those celebs currently kicking around town.smiley - boing

She saw Snow Patrol, Boyce Avenue and some smiley - diva called Jason Derulo. Tickets were allocated on a first come, first serve basis some weeks ago and despite me being up at 7.30am the website doing the allocating couldn't cope with the interest. We failed to get any tickets, the 15,000 were allocated within the hour and daughter sort of resigned herself to hearing about it on the news.smiley - sadface

Yesterday morning daughter took a call from a school friend. Said friend had just that moment acquired 4 tickets from a neighbour and daughter was her first thought on the matter. smiley - magic

So that is the story of how daughter attended the best gig ever and it didn't cost a penny. Happy days.smiley - zen

Oh, before I forget JD was acting the smiley - diva yesterday at a press conference - apparently he only discovered on boarding his flight to Belfast that there was no first class and he had to content himself with a window seat among the other workaday plebs! Gave him quite a turn by all accounts and he still hasn't quite gotten over it.smiley - rofl

Saturday 05/11/11 The day the circus came to town

My goodness, what a kerfuffle.smiley - bigeyes

It really started on Friday afternoon but it's reaching fever pitch now. The MTV EMA Awards have landed in Belfast and not without causing some considerable disruption to life. Katie Perry was spotted in Primark of all places and Rhianna in HMV (but we've already seen Rhianna in Bangor in her bikini in October so she's old news).smiley - brr

Justin Beiber is also here, I was hoping us residents would be given tickets out of the place when he arrived but apparently not.smiley - rolleyes

Travel anywhere around the city centre is almost at a standstill because around every corner is some celebrity holding up traffic - boy am I old? Possibly too old to be bothered with all that fuss.smiley - senior

This time Monday it'll be back to porridge and all the celebs will be off about their business and I'll be able to drive from A to B without trying to dodge screaming crowds and traffic police.smiley - bluelight

Friday 04/11/11

Oh my, what a week.

I am soooooo tiredsmiley - yawn

Today I went to work. It was still there. Strangely it's been kinda' quiet this week - really smiley - weird in fact. Work is nearly always very, very busy. Mainly because there is always someone who is sick and sick people are my bread and butter. This week the sick people were quiet and it made for quite a long week - what with that and all the running about I've been doing.smiley - shrug

Anyhow tonight we went shopping again. No more clothes were purchased but daughter decided she had to have some decent skin care products so we went to one of those fancy counters in the chemists at Forestside. She went in looking for some Clinique cleanser but the counter was unmanned. We looked around and there was a girl with full face make-up and dressed in black busy polishing plastic. Daughter said "Can you help me, I'd like some Clinique cleanser?". Girl replied "No, I work for Lancome. If you'd like some Lancome cleanser I can help you with that".

I was gob-smacked and had it been up to me I'd have said no thanks. Anyway, daughter said "Okay, I'll take a look". To cut a long story short daughter bought the cleanser and the nice girl gave her a day cream and eye make-up remover for free. So, all in all it was £20 well spent and a loss for the Clinique counter staff who'd obviously skipped off early.smiley - laugh

I'm happy to report that elderly relative is going into the Hospice tomorrow morning and that I talked (bullied) her son into staying with her overnight tonight.smiley - smiley

More rain today only this time it bucketed! Just as I was leaving work the heavens opened and I got soaked walking between work and the car and 3 mins later between the car and the GP surgery. There was also a massive flood on the road home. Too much rain too quickly - again.smiley - bigeyes

Oh, there's nothing wrong with me, honestly. I was on the way to the GP surgery for my flu vaccine so if I die of anything this winter it won't be influenza.smiley - boing

This evening took daughter shopping for an outfit for her video shoot. In case you missed it and I can't see how you missed it she recorded a couple of songs she'd written over the summer. If you're interested you can read about them and hear them here: http://www.reverbnation.com/sarahp if you're not interested - don't worry.smiley - winkeye

All she managed to buy was a coat, a scarf and a blouse. She will be wearing more than that in the video but we just don't know what that'll be yet.smiley - rolleyes

Anyway, it's been another tiring day so I think I'll have an early night.smiley - yawn
