A Conversation for Ask h2g2

The summary does seem to be "if you want to move, do nothing.... yet".
The "yet" is important though, and that's what the Tech team are making plans for, and when the ayes are totted and the teeth are flossed they'll work with the BBC on the details.
Moving forward, it is a case of "watch this space". This space being A85834173 - for updates and U14914070 - which is the central h2g2 future account.

May I suggest that everyone who seems NOT to have had either email so far, really does a thorough search of their spam filters / down the back of the sofa / or through their earlier email addresses.
Then, if they are certain that they didn't get one, or cannot access the email address they think the BBC might have used, then the advice in this reply from h2g2 support is pasted here again for ease of reference:

We're really sorry about the confusion - please be assured that we're only trying to act with the best motives: in this day and age we have to be totally careful that we respect users' rights with regard to data. It's just...been sort of tricky. Spam filters...cryptic responses...auto replies in Chinese...we've had 'em all!
It's fiddly but we promise to do our best. However, we can understand that missing emails must be a worry. We know that such a large number of emails couldn't be sent all at once - they were gradually fed out from 3pm and just...didn't stop. (We believed they were going to be sent out much earlier - we don't like to make big announcements on Fridays, as you say).
Still, if you haven't received the email and are concerned then please do email h2g2move AT bbc DOT co DOT uk and we'll make sure you're on the list.

Yay!!
About 15 minutes after I logged off and actually did some w**k yesterday I got the second email (never got the first).
I guess the electrons took much longer getting to me over the Grande Prairie and Lofty Mountains (or it was alphabetic and I*m under zoomer).

My gmail ones came through OK, but I've had to dig my hotmail ones out of the spam bin. (One's me, the other is the MHMC admin, in case people ask why I've 2 accounts)

@h2g2support
Really thanks for your last post. I know I've been a bit moany here..but now I know to do nothing.
How many more emails is the BBC going to send out telling us to do nothing?

Whatever you say, say nothing, when you talk about you-know-what. For if you-know-who should hear you, you know what you'll get!

I'm going to put my 20 days in a special holiday bank to pull out whenever there is especially onerous housework.

More a comment on the entire Email thinggy, which, despite the strange wording and confuseament of it all, still harks back to teh origional theme of the first Email, by which doing nothing is the way to ensure the accounts get moved over... I think

I managed to get sent the e-mail by contacting the powers, and THINK I understand it.
Stay calm, do nothing. When the new happening happens, log in using present details and Hey presto!!
We shall see.
