Yes, zoomer, what site did you vist? No new site is available yet. Quite apart from anything else, the BBC's lawyers haven't dotted i's and crossed t's.

That's the Noesis forum clzoomer, not the new site. It's nothing to do with the new site and will only become any kind of 'official' h2g2 replacement if the transistion ends up all Rupert-like and even then it'll only be temporary.

That is NOT now and never will be h2g2.
It IS confusing though.
That's a set of forums, some public some private, run by Noesis who have bid alongside Robbie and the Community Consortium for h2g2.
There are hootizens camped out there because it's where the h2g2 Community Consortium and Volunteers are working on their plans for NooHooToo.
You can register as a member of the Noesis forums and see the open forums. If you volunteer for any of the NooHooToo volunteer groups then Jordan, Vip or Ottox will give you access to that volunteer group's forum. We plan to use these instead of the Yahoo Groups because, well, because the yahoog groups suck, really.
If there is a significant downtime, then we'll open up a forum there called "Somewhere 2 Go 2" so we've got somewhere to go to. But we're not at that stage yet.
Noohootoo will look and feel the same as the oldhootoo, and we're not there yet, by a shot and a half. Lawyers. Dotting eyes and crossing teas, remember.

Hmmm, I got two emails to different addresses one for each h2g2 ID account I've opened - I only opened one because I knew both were identical.
Presumably all the admin personas, like the UG Editors, UG archivist, Post Eds etc etc all got emails, many of which may not have been opened for the same reason. This 10% thing is a bit daft.

also, clzoomer, there is this page
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/U14914070
which is the h2g2 future page
which may be the best hub for what is currently happening
it took me all this time to find it
i really wish someone in the know would post to a thread in ask
every hour
maybe call it "go here for newest info on h2g2 sale"
or something like it
but clear and concise and with the necessary words

Yes, I realise(d) that isn*t Noohootoo, but the question remains, has any of that caused me not to be emailed?

Sorry, Zoomer, I've got Friday Brains - has any of what caused you not to be emailed?
My guess is that the BBC have sent out emails to every email addy they've ever received in relation to h2g2, maybe in relation to DNA.
That is a GUESS, btw, based on the numbers.

See earlier post.
Basically, I*ve had the same email at BBC for 9 years, yet I didn*t get the (confusing) emails. Has anyone else failed to get them?
I find it rather amusing that if I got yikesed I*d get one.

Yes, all spam is routed to a file I check every day. As I said, if I can get a email, I should be getting notifications.

There must be a glitch in the system somewhere. I got the email on Monday, but haven't yet seen this latest one.

This is yet another Friday thing. End of h2g2 announced on a Friday. Barfesque unveiled on a Friday. Incomprehensible email sent out on a Friday. It appears there never can get the hang of Fridays, at the beeb

2legs - Hey, babe, take a walk on the wild side... Posted Jul 22, 2011
Its the BBC. Its Friday... ergo they're all pished when they're trying to do this
It would have been pollite were the BBC to have given any warning about their need to send out a second E-mail, and perhaps, I don't know, call me old fashioned, as we are still* currently at the BBC here, they could hav eset up a thread, within which questions could be answered etc. It'd have been considerate and helpful had they done so.

minichessemouse - Ahoy there me barnacle! Posted Jul 22, 2011
Some of the emails seem to have gotten lost in the post.
I'm assuming the emails I got were for my main account, as I only got one of each email, my second account is pre BBCID so dunno about it.
The emails tell us not to do anything for now though.
I'm a bit worried as to how people who didn't get the emails will get their accounts back once we move.
People may lose such things as 5 digit U numbers if they have to re-register because the BBC are using an out of date email address.
this is all very confusing!

ah but theres the rub minichessemouse
the emails prove we are who we are
if theres another way to prove...
heres a scenario...
i am active on hootoo early on for a few years
then i get married and have twins and am way too busy
but whilst i was on here i was a big presence
making lots of guide entries
forming friendships and clubs
taking a very active part in the threads
i am a part of hootoo
but i havent logged on for years
then when this move happens
someone else goes to the new place
and claims to be me
i dont want someone else in my account
masquerading as me
changing my stuff
adding
sullying
and neither do you
want anyone to change what i have left
thats why we need the email
but i see the drawbacks too
so we need more of a plan
