What makes you think there isn't more of a plan?
The Comms and Tech teams are writing it up, though it's obviously gone to Plan B in the light of the new email.
I'm not sure when they'll put it up on the site.
My vote is for Wednesday because that is when we do the rest of our announcements.

i dont think there is not more of a plan...
i just thought there wasnt more of a plan mentioned anywhere
i realize we have alla youse over there doing all the work
within a building that has rooms and walkways
and here are the rest of us
milling around outside of the building
wring our hands
speculating
woooorrrrrrrrrrrying
oh waily waily
but i can understand this worry
what with some suggestions that have been offered
from folks in the building
when they have sallied forth over here for a nosh and a laugh
just some mind you just some
idle speculation probably
but scary nevertheless
anyway
good to know
some of our plans will be put on the table soon for us to look at
and decide if we like them...

We're really sorry about the confusion - please be assured that we're only trying to act with the best motives: in this day and age we have to be totally careful that we respect users' rights with regard to data. It's just...been sort of tricky. Spam filters...cryptic responses...auto replies in Chinese...we've had 'em all!
It's fiddly but we promise to do our best. However, we can understand that missing emails must be a worry. We know that such a large number of emails couldn't be sent all at once - they were gradually fed out from 3pm and just...didn't stop. (We believed they were going to be sent out much earlier - we don't like to make big announcements on Fridays, as you say).
Still, if you haven't received the email and are concerned then please do email h2g2move AT bbc DOT co DOT uk and we'll make sure you're on the list.

It's pretty clear we don't have a clue what the email actually *means*, that is the use of the English language was somewhat strange.
I'm no wiser
But thanks anyway.

I got my email eventually. I wasn't around at the time, but it says 19:34. I suspected that there was just some delay in sending some of them, and this is supporting evidence for that theory.

Question to h2g2support.
Have you only sent out emails to people who signed up to the BBC through h2g2 or have you sent them out to every one of the DNA site members? I only ask because there has been some concern that some of our site members have come here having joined at other sites and then discovered h2g2 afterwards.
Eh?
Effers;England. Posted Jul 22, 2011
But why are people so desperate to get an email that no-one understands what it means?
Or has it been deciphered and I missed that?
Eh?
h2g2Support Posted Jul 22, 2011
We're sorry for any confusion. Basically:
- email us if you don't want your details to transfer, and we won't pass your details on or contact you again (no offence).
- if you don't email us telling us this, we'll email you when it's possible for people to transfer to the new h2g2 so you can log in. (This will 'unlock' your account - a system that means that data can't accessed unless a user explicity wants it to be transferred).
Sorry, I'm not sure that's any clearer.

Yes, all well and good, but it still doesn't answer 'my' question. Have you emailed everyone who has a BBCID account or just those who joined via h2g2? Some people joined on sites like the Archers and have moved across to become regulars here. Will they get an email?

Thanks for posting and explaining things "h2g2 support". By my reckoning you posted that at midnight or so, clearing away the mess and cognitive confusion...
.... Does that mean....?
... Could it be...?
... Surely not....!

I said... I said the hoovery one would appear... and show us the true path... to the promised land
suddenly everything becomes clear... the garbled words in teh Email.... clearly a test of the dedicated followers of (un)-fashion
I don't know how important it may, or may not be, but I'd recommend (mainly as it oughta only take a couple sex... I mean secs...), (and I'm about to do this myself).... that whilst we're still here, running on teh BBC, we can log in, which we probably are, and check in the settings and profile, that we've each got the right Email address, I.E., an active one we use, and check, associated with our BBCID accounts, and hence h2g2 login... damint... now I sound like a dodgy Email from the BBC err... I'm too drunk to write that more sucinctly or clearly... lettuce hoover

Got mine.
And an updated version.
Bottom line is still 'if you wanna stay with h2g2
when it moves, do nothing till your hear from them'.
That's simple enuff. I can do that.

Thanks so much for clarifying. Basically it means the same as the first one? If you want to stay with h2g2, do nothing?

Eye two received the Beeb email.
Haven't used hootoo since I signed up out of boredom.
Was supply teaching in a Turkish school.
Near Istanbul but wrong side of the Bosforus.
All this conversation makes me keen to stay in noohootoo with you lot.
It takes a lot to make me laugh on a Saturday morning.
So I guess I'll do nothing and wait till I meet you again, some sunny day....
(but I still don't really understand it)

I'm another non-receiver. Considering i only just signed back up with a new account and they've managed to transfer my writing credits and badges over, it's a little concerning. But i'm not worried.

>>End of h2g2 announced on a Friday<<
The end of hootoo was announced on a Monday so the Friday theory doesn't quite hold. Just saying.
For those folk who are worried the emails are being sent to defunct accounts, is it too late for them to change their details with the Beeb and update their contact email address?
I've had no problem with either email, though the second was pretty hard to understand.
