Well the yikesing is quite clearly passive-aggressive trolling by someone who went to bed about 13 hours ago, (9:00pm Saturday GMT, 10pm Saturday BST). Which means the er's getting more sleep than me.

It may also be the only way that someone who has been banned can interact with the site, since any member of the public can 'report' a post.

Other timezones are of course available.

As with any troll, the best response, and the one which is the most infuriating for them to have to deal with, is to ignore them.

If the posts are from a vaned ex-member then I suppose the yikesings are legitimate. Oddly, the posts in my PS haven't vanished though.

Having kept my distance I've no idea if the member's actually banned or not.

How do you ignore phantom yikesers 3dots? Same way you ignore any troll, you ignore their activities.

I didn't know that you could yikes when not registered or logged in (probably hadn't thought about it, although you'd think 7 years would be long enough ).

I just logged out to try it. You now get this guided process about how to make a complaint, complete with radio buttons to select, and multiple pages to work through.

That works logged in or not, but not in alabaster It's obviously been a while since I yikesed a post.

I didn't get past page 2 of the new system because I don't have an actual complaint. Might have to find an offensive post so I can try it out though. Who wants to write one?

It seems to me that the new complaints system has been set up to confine your choices and reduce the ability to actually complain.

I've tried a couple of times and it's so prescriptive and narrow in what one can do and what it asks it makes people give up which is exactly what any organisation would want: a way of reducing complaints and bother.

Well, if it reduces the number of knee-jerk yikeseses and therefore tries to ensure they are legit, is that a problem?

Note to self - try checking postings 122 and forwards to find out if they stayed permanently or only temporarly yikesed.
