o' lor but that is so true about the shouting. Biggest culprit
is Cillit BANG!
Remember that demented woman who grabbed people's clothing at the airport, smeared them in some gunk before sticking them in the machine.
"She's worried but I'm not" was her byline as the victim stood by.
In today's world the victim would have garroted her.
The ad hasn't been on in ages so perhaps someone did do just that.

Esther Rantzen, to somebody of my age I think of her and I think of "That's Life." A TV show that pointed, and often poked fun at the bad and just plain wrong.
Then her involvement with ChildLine.
If anything, leaning toward a reputation on being the consumers champion and in general a good sort.
She has now involved herself with an equity release scheme. I think that's jut bad and wrong for her to do it.

Equity release scheme? Is that when you free horses into the wild?

Yes.
You were funny, I felt like being 'dry'.
Seriously though I feel it's well out of order her using a reputation for doing good to flog something that is basically a bad thing.

Rantzen's never had a reputation for doing good, though her public persona might have led people to believe otherwise. She's a TV presenter and That's Life was a job. Childline maintains her profile. Ultimately she's akin to David Blaine but a tad more disingenuous.

I have similar reservations about Carol Vorderman selling stupidity loans or whatever it is she's doing... She's seen as someone who's smart and savvy and likeable... So people will associate that image with the product. Unfortunately a lot of people ARE that easily sold. It annoys the HELL out of me. If you're going to advertise soemthing, make sure it's something you ACTUALLY agree with and endorse! (and if she actually agrees with and endorses that, she's not as smart as she's made out to be!)

Smart enough to take the money?
What faith?
What price integity?
What a load of cordwainers!

Surely we should applaud that sort of thing for being good advertising, clever marketing etc. It may not be moral (no 'may' about it... Ed), but since when did that have anything to do with selling stuff?
Remember Sophie on The Apprentice? The chemistry boffin who couldn't in all conscience sell a kids lolly at £2? Sr'alan quite rightly identified that she had no place in the world of business.

I thought I had found the perfect answer to tv ads. Every time they came on I switched over to the music channel for a few minutes. That went well until recently, each time I turned over I was greeted by more adverts. Some skunky person has got wise and put all the commercial breaks into synch.

Annoying isn't it? Mind you, the adverts are generally better than the music on the music channels, at least they are on the Freeview stuff.
TMF almost redifines music in a not entirely pleasing manner, and the less said about 'The Hits' the better.

Very true. But in an attempt to understand a wide range of music and the music industry, my brother and I force ourselves to watch it in the ads.

Hahaha! The hits is hilarious! So long as you watch it around once a month... In any given rock 'top xxx' I will guarantee you they will play Guns n Roses, November Rain, probablly in the top 20 if not top 10 Those dodgy mixed up tracks are amusing when ads are on other channels too

And Kerrang are oh-so-natural infront of the camera, and love proper metal, regardless of what the majority thinks
If I hadn't used the tongue in cheek smilie that sentence could send me to hell for lying so much.

By the wayside in the search for money.
I suspect a lot of the people who get hired to write direct and shoot these videos get the jobs because of the big media spinning world of half truth and nobodies thinking they know what the hell they are talking about. And you know what? People follow them, assuming that because they act like they know, they must do. Musicians take their word for it and fans think that's what they should be looking for in their music videos.
Blur used to make fun videos... And there's plenty of quality out there, even if you dont want to go as far as the michel gondry stuff... Genius, yes. Nuts? Ooooh yeah!

Hahaha, I gave up on kerrang when I went through puberty and realised they didnt talk any sense. Apparently Amputated are in there in the new issue, they are a local band that go to our local club... They are in a TV series on BBC3 next month... They put them in a house with a girl group or something... Poor girls... And poor boys, It's going to be car crash TV! Tey are of the thrashy, offensive as possible for the sake of it genre...

Music channel, Jamster subsrcriptions? It's *only £3 / week* bobbing rastads!
And the remark about Carol Vorderman and her flogging debt; exactly my view.
Key: Complain about this post
