Mina just said that it was in CAC so there won't be a PR thread.
That explains why I can't find it in anyone's Guide Entry list

I started collecting old PR threads once, and then gave it up. I don't have that one, but you can find some others at A13114739.

Anybody seen the Gullible thread? Sure I left it in misc chat about a year ago.

What ho, sweet ladies! Any chance you could help me find the thread about songs that people like but were previously too embarrassed to admit to?

"...sweet ladies"?
Compliments? Who are you and what have you done with the real Mu Beta?
I'm not sure if this is the thread you mean but it's close. The mp3 Shuffle Challenge:

If it's not, then how about some more details, eg how long ago you last saw the thread, who might have started it etc.

A bit more digging brings me to a certain person's journal, which might be the thread you mean, since my previous suggestion is linked in it too. Guilty pleasures:

It could be, but I'm sure there was an Ask thread as well. Maybe I need to get out more.

I remember that thread. How about Misc Chat? (It could have got moved there during that clear-out a few years back, even if it did start in Ask)

AgProv posted this on another thread:

I was trying to find a submission I made to a talk thread some years ago for a very good reason, but I just could not locate it however hard I tried. Even though I know it was in a thread concerning road accident blackspots and electronically guided road crossing press-button- to- get- a- green- man doodahs. This infuriated me, because I mentioned several streets in Manchester where crossing the road involves taking your very life in your hands - a good search function would have latched onto "Manchester road" and "Broom Lane" and given me every incidence of a thread posting carrying those specific search terms.

Thank you thank you thank you!
I'm also looking for one where I advanced a theory that pelican crossings at very busy road junctions are there as a sort of panacea for pedestrians. Who think that pressing the button makes a difference and hastens the moment where a red light will show for traffic, a green man will show for the pedestrian, and crossing the road may be acheived swiftly and safely.
In reality, the pelican crossing box is not wired up to anything at all: because it lights up when you pres the button, and periodically the red man turns to green, it maintains the comforting illusion that the pedestrian has input into the system an can influence when the red man will turn green.
As at very busy intersections the priority will aways be to keep the traffic moving optimally without random pedestrians stinking up the process, the lights will in reality keep changing according to whatever code or program has been inputted into the control box - to move traffic rather than people.
So the pelican boxes are just there for show, basically,
and are just a pretty toy that lights up when the command box and not the pedestrian tells it to.
I got into quite a good conversation with a traffic light systems engineer on this one, I recall.
I was also annoyed recently when some goit plagiarised my posting word-for-word for the Guardian's "Notes and Queries" column - hopefully if I find it again I can tell the paper it's not all his own work!
So if I can crave your indulgence. Again.
It might be under "AgProv" but could also be the identity I used whilst severely modded - "DeuxiemeBureau".
Thanks, people!

mouth drops in awe, hat comes off, a bow is taken in acknowledgement, great exclamations of thanks are made, and I will tell you how I get on with the Guardian at some point.
Thank you!
