h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

I had a conversation with someone whose opinions I respect and posed the question "What is the most embarrassing track on your iPod?" This is a simple question and when you are talking to someone you have known for sometime and trust, it is fine to share the horrors of your music collection.

Except that the person in question used every excuse going to avoid the question:

Excuse 1 - "My iPod is broken"

Fair enough Apple's build quality is seriously shocking at the moment, but you must have iTunes.

Excuse 2 - "I don't use iTunes"

OK but you have a music collection, I know for a fact that you are obsessed with a band named after bovine spit.

Excuse 3 - "I have excellent taste in music, so the question of embarrassing tracks is moot in my case!!! Go on, what's your most embarrassing track?"

Right well, in a spirit of openness I will confess what I confessed to him. I have a soft spot for the Little Angels 'Greatest Hits' album. It was ELO but ever since the brilliant Doctor Who episode 'Love and Monsters' Jeff Lynne is cool again.

And no I am not ashamed. It has some seriously good memories of uni atatched to it. (Little Angels not ELO. ELO has seriously good memories of pre-primary school.)

So here is the question - what will *you* confess to loving?

I don't own an iPod, but my CD collection contains Ken Dodd, which I would never admit to anyone I haven't known for less than 7 years.

It would probably be quicker to tell you the tracks on my iPod-style-player that *aren't* embarrassing.

Er, yeah. I quite like ELO too .

And Rick Astley, Savage Garden, Joe Dolce's 'Shadappa You Face', The Sweet, 'Living on a Prayer', that Moldovan song from Eurovision 2005, Razorlight, Mud, the Grease soundtrack, 'Centrefold' by the J Geils Band, Ocean Colour Scene, 'Lily The Pink' and frankly a whole other host of crap that I'm embarrassed to own.

But that is just class in a glass!

I mean that is a classic, an all time classic!

I'm glad someone finally sees it my way!

Great minds, my friend, great minds...

Odo loves The Floral Dance, so it does get quite a lot of airtime in our household too.

Those are some great choices!

I had the soundtrack to the PS2 game 'Gitarooman' shipped all the way from Singapore just so that I could learn the tunes and therefore play the game better. Bloody good album to boot. Still. When you actually mention to people the reason for buying it you get a few odd looks.

I have two Steeleye Span albums too. And the goldie lookin chain Greatest Hits.

I'm *proud* to own the soundtrack to the Buffy The Vampire Slayer musical episode though.

Everyone should have the Buffy Musical soundtrack... it is brilliant!
