I blame 2legs for the fact that febreze didn't work on the straps and that while baking soda and vinegar took out a lot of it, the smell's still there.
I also blame him for the fact that it rained while they were hanging outside to dry/air out further.

I blame 2legs for not reminding me what the Discovery Channel's Mythbusters mixed with baking soda to get rid of the odor of skunk spray that worked better than all the commercial products... it may have just been a detergent, but I can't remember and 2legs isn't telling me.

Baron Grim Posted Apr 28, 2005
I blame 2legs for telepathically pointing me to the Mythbusters message boards where I found out that the mixture was baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, water and detergent.
They used a recipe approximately like this:
1 bottle hydrogen peroxide
1/2 bottle water
1/4 cup baking soda
1 teaspoon dog shampoo or liquid dishwashing detergent
I blame 2legs because the H202 would probably bleach any fabrics and should be tested on a spot where it won't be seen first.

I blame 2egs that I felt the need to search and find this:
Baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, and Dawn dish soap makes a better skunk-odor remover than over-the-counter solutions.
