My grandmother had "The Battle Hymn of The Republic" at her funeral, hardly typical! Good rousing tune though!

I think the 1812 is quite a way to go out in style, especially with real cannons and all.

I am currently thinking that Springsteen's Bobby Jean would be a good song at (my?) funeral, if only for those two last lines:
"And Im just calling one last time not to change your mind
But just to say I miss you baby, good luck goodbye, Bobby Jean"
I guess it is a rather cheesy thought, but oh well...

Didn't Spike Milligan choose music he hated ?He knew his fellow Goons hated it too- they had to sit and listen to it.He ,of course didn't!His last raspberry! I love it .

But wasn't he the last to die?

Don't bury me. Jenna G.
"Don't bury me deep under ground son
Don't cast me out to sea
Scatter me up in the south wind blowin'
Let every where be where I be
Ill be around each corner
Above, along side and beneath
Won't miss me cause I'm still right here
yeah the world carries me,
Carries me on
yeah the world carries me
Carries me on
I'll be right here, listen
Just leave me high up on a mountain
Where elements break me down
I want to return to where I came from
And nourish the seeds I've sawn
This way I am always closer
I'm standing right by your side
everywhere your gonna be baby
yeah the world still carries me
carries me on
yeah the world carries me
I'm still right here
yeah the world carries me
carries me on
Carry on just
like the sun sets then its dawn
Ill keep coming
up in conversation
Feels like I'm there
but it's vacant, my place
still my soul carries, my soul carries
Ill be, always,
there just like the starlight
sweep through, your dreams
everytime you feel like
aaaah
my soul carries,
the world carries me on
Carry on
Carry on just like the river I flow
Over mountains then into the ocean
Ain'tt lost im here
You just cant see my face
Still my soul carries, my soul carries
I'll be always
There just like the sunrise
Can't forget me
Cause morning will remind
oooh
my soul carries me on
the world carries me on "

What I think is funny is that to satisfy the authorities it had to be in Gaelic - the story is here

The video from Sid Vicious's version of My Way projected on a screen at the front of the church, played at a ridiculously high volume

Little Ah Sid wuz ony a kid,
but a cute little cus ah declare!
Wi' eyes full of fun and a nose that begun,
way up in the roots of his hair.
Now one Summer's morn while Ah Sid played on,
a Bumble Bee flew in the Spring,
"Ah! nice Butterfly" grinned little Ah Sid,
"Me catch um an' pull off um wing"
Heard on my radio that was made up of a sugar lump wi' a cat's whisker and a long aerial wire plus head phones somewhere in Lincolnshire during 1920's when I was about six years old.
Now at 86 yrs old ah weers headphones cos ah'm a goin' deef. :0)

I would consider My Immortal by Evanescense, or Silhouette by Opeth. Both sad songs, but then you can get it out the way.
