Meanwhile in Michigan thousands show up at the capitol building to protest, but it is an excercise in futility. Michigan will become the 24th state to enact "right to work"legislation. https://twitter.com/jameeurrea

Maybe it's not luck but rather the power and magic of lighting one little candle
Maybe his loneness was what envigorated them to win

I think US comedian Rob Delaney summed it up:
"Guns don't kill people. People who say 'guns don't kill people' kill people. With guns."

oh dear, squigs. You caught me - here I was, hoping for a yard and a half long queue of people frantically asking "Where? Where?"
Yeah, sorry about that.
If you happen to notice that link, lonely, in another thread, let me know please, so I can go there and apologise to them too.

Ex-Chief Whip Andrew Mitchell calls for a 'full enquiry' now that it emerges that a police officer lied about being a witness to his 'pleb' comment.
Yes. Let's do that because Andrew Mitchell whilst denying that he called a police officer a pleb STILL hasn't admitted exactly what he
DID say.
Of course, there won't be a full enquiry, because this will be dealt with either by way of a disciplinary issue within the police force or more likely a criminal charge of attempting to pervert the course of justice (?) and Andrew Mitchell will still not have to cough to what he did say.
Moral of the story? Don't try to out-politic a politician.

Well he admitted he swore at the officer but refuses to say exactly what.
Amazing that he is now trying to take the moral high ground and saying he was wrongd because he didn't say pleb...I would have thought dropping the F-word in was worse than pleb.
Also, it really has screwed up my use of the word 'pleb' as people now assume I;m using it due to him when I;ve been using the word for years to describe you lot.
(Oh, did I say that last bit out loud? Oops...)

There is a newly discovered species of spider which acts as a puppeteer, using a giant decoy spider to fool prey. This is one of those things where it seems hard to understand how evolution could ever create such behaviour.

Unless... there is something to all this foolish
re-incarnation and karma nonsense.
We had a thread here recently about what skills or
knowledge you currently possess which might prove
useful if you were time-travelled to the middle-ages.
A broader question (but not one I wanted to introduce
there or anywhere really) is what of your present
incarnation might travel with you to your next life.
Obviously some puppeteer found himself in Hell as a
spider and turned his talent to advantage, passing it
on to his descendants - which as we know with spiders
could be an exponential explosion of thousands per year
and become a 'special' (species) attribute in short order.
Anyway
carry on.

no, actually, it doesn't seem hard at all.

I point out that this is seen as a 'new' species
and so far found only in a 25 mile radius.
This is about right for several generations
of spiders to have evolved since Jim Henson
passed a few years ago.
There is little expectation that they will ever
rename the species in his honour or even that
anyone but me will properly understand it.
Happily, Jim will have long since passed on to
other lives perhaps better suited to his karma.
