The way it collapsed, I think, you would have to have been seriously unlucky to get killed in that collapse. A broken leg or crushed foot sems to be the worst you get.
The guy on the right hovered a bit at the edge of the 'bridge' so he must have sensed something was wrong.

Indeed, but those weren't the pedestrians GB was talking about...

"BBC1's War on Britain's Roads doc may breach BBC editorial guidelines" http://www.bikebiz.com/index.php/news/read/bbc-doc-portrays-dvd-stunt-cycling-footage-as-standard-behaviour/014036
Saw this the other night and thought it was a wasted opportunity to show the reality of cycling on congested roads. Typical shoddy and slapdash work from the BBC really.

A link:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2012/dec/07/duchess-cambridge-hoax-call-nurse-found-dead
"Radio DJs Mel Greig and Michael Christian, from Sydney's 2Day FM station...The radio station is reportedly already serving two five-year licence probations after serious breaches of the regulator's code."
"John Lofthouse, the hospital's chief executive...said on Tuesday the hospital was considering whether to take action against the radio station.
He added: "I've received advice that what the Australian broadcasters did may well have broken the law. On the other hand, they've apologised for it so we're going to have a long and careful think about what, if anything, we do."
So did the radio station's apology go: 'We deeply regret that a prank call made by two of our employees has possibly had a connection with a person's suicide.'
Well, that's OK then...they've apologised about the *possible* circumstances they were involved with...looks like they may not have learnt from their past problems.
I really do loath prank calls in general.

I think that this is really sad. We are jumping to somethinkg of a conclusion of course, but it does look rather a likely one.

I heard the nurse had died. My immediate - and I do mean immediate - response was "It wasn't in a tunnel in Paris, was it? Because you really don't want to pxxx off the Queen, do you?"
I'm a bad person.

Alfster Posted Dec 7, 2012
Hoovooloo
Are there many tunnels in Australia because it would seem they are the people at the front of th pxxxed off the Queen queue...and from what I heard about the Olympics and her aquaintances...she knows people...
If the radio station or those DJs ever make another hoax call...then they deserve everything that anyone can get away with on them.
OK causation vs correlation etc but... ... ...

British investment in Cuba - very interesting, the US may not be happy
In theory it sounds like a great win-win-win - effective biomass energy, improvements and investment for both sugar distilleries and farming - by removing the weed (that's the biomass) they reveal excellent farmland
- and there's even an idea that the weed produces carbon in a form good for batteries - more research to be done
However looking at the details on the weed - it is apparently as resilient as teak - Teak! My school used teak (which we may have stolen in a colonialist fashion several centuries ago - my old school was based on the remnants of the East India Company training college
Teak was stronger than the metal, couldn't be ignited by any temperature we could reach with our stuff...)and they want to remove 1.5 million hectares of the stuff - good luck and I hope they do well

That woody weed looks like it would make
good walking sticks and canes - with the
built in thorns, an excellent weapon. As
the alien on the Simpsons said, "He's got
a board! A board with a nail in it!"

Sir Patrick Moore, the great British television presence in Astronomy has sadly died aged 89. I am sure anyone in the UK and beyond who has an interest in astronomy will feel his absence. His eccentric persona was so typically British
