Edward the Bonobo - Gone. Posted May 2, 2012
Elsewhere they reported that Dirk's girlfriend is named Peaches. Aww.
Time to reprise my all-time favourite joke:
Penguin walks into a bar. Asks the barman,
'Have you seen my brother?'
Barman says,
'What does he look like?'

No "news", and it didn't catch my attention "today", but:

Nicolas Sarkozy is a political weathervane
"In Britain, Sarkozy wouldn't dream of denying having said what had been filmed and recorded in front of entire crowds, for fear of being branded a liar – an ultimate crime, which could cost him his political future overnight."

Rufus Wainwright is marrying. I read this in our local paper because, believe it or not, his future partner comes from round our way.

In short, a national red top gets a cheap laugh at the expense of the new England football team manager by highlighting his difficulty in pronouncing his 'r's in a front page headline.
(Bwing on the Euwos. We'll see you in The Ukwaine against Fwance).
I was struck by the name of this particular difficulty. Rhotacism.
As insensitive as the word 'lisp'.

There was no consultation, no one knocked on the door. You just wake up one morning, there's a leaflet telling you they are going to put missiles on the roof.

Assuming you survive the initial radioactive fallout, would you want to live in a post-apocalyptic world?

Not particularly - would I have a choice?
The author has a couple of things to say about the media... then, just opposite the 'Forks Over Knives' advert, he says:
>To better understand the severity of this situation, read these facts about Fukushima reactor No. 4 >which I have assembled from available news sources:<< ...
which is where I stopped reading - but a skim showed he soon headlines 'the media cover-up'.
Some proper facts, please.

Rod Posted May 8, 2012
Well, yes, perhaps. Can't make me mind up - like the best spoofs, it's believable 'cos I have just enough knowledge to make it so but not enough to refute it...

At the Olympic flame lighting ceremonies in Greece today
a gust of wind extinguished the flame. There was a back-up
but some will see this as a somewhat ominous sign.

I heard that story a few times yesterday on the radio while I was driving hither & thither. Different presenters used the same script and it was quite funny to therefore see the lengths the BBC went to to make it clear that the people involved in the ceremony were actors. Not real High Priestesses, no sirreee bob.
Seriously - in a 30 second piece they pointed out they were actors three or four times.

Well, the first ominous sing happened when Greece entered the EU. Nobody saw it then. Not even considering that the country entered because of a fraud made by Goldman Sachs with the state of the helenic finances. From then on all went happy-clappy for corrupt politicians there and bankers from other EU areas...
A drama indeed, and it´s getting worse each day.
