I was struck by this story on the BBC:
"why are television viewers fascinated by compulsive hoarding disorder?"
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/magazine-16299670
So they aren't reporting on why people hoard, but instead on the reasons why viewers watch it. Where will it end? Will they report on why people read news stories about why people watch TV shows about why people hoard?

The following caught my attention today.
A respected h2g2 Researcher is puzzled by a BBC News story. It does not concern directly a piece of news, but rather examines the issue why people are interested in reading about the piece of news.
Aforemetioned researcher seems worried about possible recursivity of the phenomenon.

I have a little book of "Irish Proverbs" one of which is "Keep a thing for seven years and you'll find use for it"
Also many years past I have heard the term 'string saver' used ... . . ................. . . .. ...

Pope berates Christmas 'glitter'
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-16328318
Speaking from the exquisite St Peter's Basilica, the largest church in the world decorated with works by Bernini and Michaelangelo, the Pope was clad simply in his 24ct gold brocade, fingers displaying rings of sapphires and rubies, as he denounced the materialism of Christmas.

The main thing that struck me about this story was paragraph 5, in which a man named Rune Elvik (which sounds like a character I would have made up to play Tunnels & Trolls with in the 80s) from Norway's Institute of Transport Economics, had the chance, and didn't take it, to say... "Ye cannae change the laws of physics. Cap'n."

A 23-year-old student from India has died after he was shot at close range in a Salford street in an "unprovoked attack".
Police said the man was with nine male and female students, all Indians, when they were approached by two men in the early hours.
Following a "very short" conversation one of the men pulled out a handgun and shot the student in the head.
The gunman was described as white, in his mid-20s, and of slim build.

I'm not a religious Jew, and neither were my parents, but I think I can speak for the vast majority of 'normal' Jews when I say that drawing attention to the disgraceful behaviour of those fanatics must be the right thing to do.
These people need to be put in their place.

Possibly his estimation of the horror of a
little girl being spit on does not equal a
high street stabbing that shuts down Boxing
Day retail in London.
Nationalism, eh.
More likely he's just raving.
