I liked The Island when I saw it a few years ago, but what were you doing watching that when The Return of the King was on the other side?

Finally got around to watching Amelie. What a fantastic film.

Just watched Death Proof - everything you know to expect from Tarantino. He labours the Grindhouse point, turns up in it acting like a plank, throws in references to other movies (Pretty In Pink, Vanishing Point). Still very enjoyable, Kurt Russell was great. And the pay-off's a gas.
Got The Fountain to watch tomorrow.

I liked it and would be interested in finding out whether there's an underlying message to it all

Just watched The Fountain; a metatextual masterpiece. One of the most beautiful and moving films I've seen in some time.

I found The Full Monty sad, moving and only slightly funny. I never could understand why it was classified as a comedy.

Has anyone seen American Teen? And does anyone know when it's coming out in France? I know that's always a while behind the rest of the world, because it must be painstakingly dubbed... but I really want to see it!
oo, and I have never seen the Full Monty or Chitty Chitty Bang Bang...my friends are continually deploring my complete ignorance of popular culture as it relates to films! Must work on that some time

Saw Taken with Liam Neeson.
Very good action movie if very brutal at times. Clearly the Bourne Identity films have an strong influence in the action sequences.
Very gripping edge of the seat stuff though and I was thoroughly entertained.
On the negative side - a pretty unlikely plot really and not a nice film subject-matter-wise. One character seemed not at all put out that someone close to her was killed during the course of things.
I think it is safer to allow one's daughter to go to Europe alone than this film seems to make out. Although you might want to take greater care with a 17 year old than her mother did in this.
Highly recommended from me though

I watched "Street Kings" this afternoon. It was okay, but the good guy was a but over the top.

"It's 10 years since the release of The Big Lebowski, a film that split cinema audiences down the middle but created a strange cult"
I love the film. I wouldn't say I would go as far as some of the people in the article but it's got something special about it.
