Saw Repulsion last night. Another deliciously shot, tense and at times chilling film. Catherine Deneuve put in a stunning performance I thought, as did a few of us but some were pretty polarised against it. I was very impressed though.

Next week we're due some cheering up with Spirit Of The Beehive which is supposed to be magical.

Recently saw 'Jacobs Ladder' on Film4, very weird with plot that keeps twisting a turning right to the end. Might require a few more watches to properly make sense of it all, but i recomend it to anyone who likes really wierd movies.

Currently looking foward to 'Hot Fuzz,' looks like another slice of fried gold.

Not really a film, but seing as it was 3 hours long, and had the production values of one....

The 2003 Battlestar Galactica mini series... smiley - wow It was fantastic and could easily have been released as a film. I am now stupidly excited about the fact I now have nearly three whole series of a fantastic sho to watch smiley - biggrin

Showgirls is hilarious. It should be seen by everybody.

Can't get excited about Blood Diamond. Yet another white boy saves Africa story. Not to mention the old cliche that whever you go in the world, whatever the problems, there will always be at least one smokin' hot white girl. smiley - yawn

Galaxy Babe, is it Showgirls or Dreamgirls you want to see? If it's Dreamgirls I think Eddie Murphy has been nominated for an Oscar...

Don't know if it's any good though. smiley - erm

Ah.

That would make more sense. I was wondering why Showgirls was being shown at GB's local cinema...

Yes, Blues the film does have some of the usual hacknyed Hollywood cliches and a couple of ridiculously obvious plot expositions. That a guy looking for his family in a refugee camp with nearly a milion people finds them in les than two minuets is stupid but its a film and films on any scale will always take short cuts.

I rate it inspite of these things because there are som many films that use those story teling techniques but dont offer the good things Blood Diamond does.

Magwitch - My name is Mags and I am funky.

Arthur and The Invisibles, with boys last night. Not bad, not brilliant, the boys enjoyed it. Animation's a bit carp, but actual acting is rather good.

One for the kids.

Arthur and the Invisibles - such a pity about the film. The books are *so* good.

I quite liked Arthur and the Invisibles (or the Minimoys as they're called in my neck of the woods), found it a little bit rushed though. Then again I guess it's designed for kids with short attention spans!

What age are the books aimed, Blues? If they are better I might have keep my eye out for them.
