History Lesson!!
In the 1950's Peace Babies (so called due to production after the 1st World War) were renamed to Jelly Babbies (or now called Jelly babies)

Didn't know that, thank you. You made me go do a Google and find this:
*Jelly Babies - Mini Fruit flavoured jelly babies 3.5oz bag
Bassett's originally launched Peace Babies to celebrate the end of the First World War in 1918. Rationing during the second World War caused production to stop, but in 1953 Bassett's Peace Babies were reborn as the loveable Bassett's Jelly Babies. Imported from England.
Ingredients:Sugar, glucose syrup, water, gelatin, citric acid, colours, flavourings*
I didn't know they were gelatin, either. Is that from fruit or from animals? An online dictionary isn't sure either:
*Gelatin - 1 : glutinous material obtained from animal tissues by boiling; especially : a colloidal protein used as a food, in photography, and in medicine
2 a : any of various substances (as agar) resembling gelatin b : an edible jelly made with gelatin.*
Hmmmm.

I was once asked why jelly babies are flat on the back? My response was that perhaps it's so that you can balance them on your nose and then toss them and catch them in your mouth
After all..........if you can tiddle a wink, why cant you toss a jelly baby?
