No, I haven't seen All That Jazz, though I've heard of it. I'm fairly certain that the title comes from the song "All That Jazz" from the musical Chicago, which he directed on Broadway. Or choreographed; I'm not sure which. Yes, he did work a lot on musicals. My knowledge of musicals between 1975 and 1995 has lots of holes still (though I'm working on that), because I've only just recently realized what a plethora of good, recent shows there are. I'm much stronger on anything from 1935 to 1965.

You should watch All That Jazz. Its an interesting film with a fair amount of music in it. Its repeated on TV fairly often. Whats your opinion of the recent crop of film musicals like Moulin Rouge and Chicago?

I liked Moulin Rouge, mostly because I thought Ewan McGregor did a wonderful job and sings beautifully. I also thought it was neat how they combined a lot of different styles of "modern" songs (modern having a range from 1960 ("Sound of Music") to the present) and made them all work in the 19th century.
Chicago was really well-done, and, fortunately, filmmakers have become brave enough to diverge a bit from the style of the stage musical (by having most of the songs presented as Roxie's imagination). That said, it's not my favorite musical because I DO like the old standards best, like Rodgers and Hammerstein. They're more happy.

*considers grabbing Master B, waltzing around the room, and singing "Shall We Dance?" from the King and I*
*decides against it*
I've seen the older Chicago, that was based more on the show I think...but I liked Moulin Rouge better...possibly because I like Baz's insane use of colour

Bluebeerry muffins are my favourite !!
I'm probably a little too stubborn to be bribed...I won't take things from people I don't...unless it's of course, in which case I will take it under most circumstances !
