Bistroist, I've taken some time to check the conversations of the person in question (and even managed to come across some of the conversations that he had unsubscribed from) and not only does he often sign his postings with the same name, but he also states the same a/s/l facts *and* gives out exactly the same e-mail address - when more than researcher does this, I assume it's one and the same person behind it all...

Apparently these bounty groups have existed since 1997 on Yahoo, Lycos and Hotmail. I've done various google searches (combinations of 'bounty' 'lycos' 'volunteer' 'yahoo' and 'chat') and I can find no mention of them.

Well the italics have access to the e-mail address that they used to sign up, couldn't they have a look to see if it's the same person?

Not a lot to say at this point, Except to say Like Mina_BBC as said it is nice to have a warm welcoming to H2G2 by any researcher whether it be a researcher someone official or unofficial.
My concern is that the help groups set up such as the BOUNTIES, The RANGERS, Liam+H2G2Guide And now The unofficial Guardian Angels.
Is that these groups are been set up and abandoned by one researcher.
All well and good setting up unofficial welcoming comities, But Why after a few days of spamming adverts to recruit new members then abandon accounts merely to set up another help group,
The latest help group set up by this researcher is the unofficial Guardian Angels,
I fear that this could be confused with the real H2G2 Guardian Angels(of which I’m a member) By new and old researchers alike.
If any one is in Doubt who the real Ace’s are click here for the drop down list of official Ace’s Ace And to see a list of H2G2’s Guardian Angels click here A856596

I suspect that the bountys and all the other groups - consist of one person - the researcher in question and their invisible mates...
Like the eponymous chocolate bar, the idea seems to be a little bit flaky...

The drop down list is out of date for the moment so that could be confusing as well...

the third man
Its obvious it’s the same person as with all these unofficial groups he signs off
“lee/Liam” it’s therefore safe to assume it’s one and the same researcher.
If rangers. And bounty groups are groups on other sites such as yahoo/Lycos
Then I feel that’s where they should stay. Otherwise things could get confusing if there are to many welcoming comities, also I don’t believe that new researchers would welcome more than one or two unofficial or official welcomes.
I Myself would find that very daunting as I know how difficult it can be as a once new researcher.

*Waves* To Loup
Hi Loup
To be honest i didnt realize its not been updated,
this should be drawn to the attention of the Ace forum to rectify this.
As this list is on site i feel it should be updated on a regular basis.
In light of the fact that the aces drop down list i directed you too as not been updated i would like to draw your attention to the right hand margin directly under the research name you will see a ace's badge. if your on digi-box (using plain skin) This will be seen as a blue link saying member of aces, so if in doubt of a researcher being a Ace or not click on there name, This will identify whether or not they are members of the Ace Group.

Of course the researcher in question could simply be a moron, with far too much time on his/her hands and a need to be loved (look at meeee- i'm helping people!)
Honestly, if you're reading this thread- give us a break, please

Surely it's against the rules to be annoying?
If it isn't, I propose a new rule.

'pygamas' - is that bedware for little people?
I agree it's nice to have unofficial welcomers for new researchers. I know researchers who have been doing this regularly for ages.
At first I thought the Rangers etc thing was good too until I looked a bit closer at what was being done. I think they may just end up confusing newcomers.
And not just newcomers - I'm glad someone clarified that there already are Guardian Angels, official ones. I kind of knew that, but when these new groups started up I did get confused as to what was going on.
