App - I too swear I've heard M Caine say that - I can hear him saying it in my head even when I just read it!
Maybe he said it over here on the other side of the world and thinks we are so out of touch with the rest of the sphere that no one over there will notice...

I think it might have first been coined by Mike Yarwood, who's impressions were often so good other impressionists would copy him rather than the original model

On the TV skit-sketch comedy shows they are portaiying the head of the BBC Mr Greg Dyke as the actor Mr M. Caine. People in the UK may have seen this on TV or heard the same on BBC Radio 4.
It is extremely funny. Both parties share the same accent and demeanor and the writing is brilliant. For overseas researchers this might not be so relevant but in the UK it is A HOOT!
