I have just posted something utterly bizzarre on a thread I'm on, sounding like something Dobbie out of Harry Potter II would have said and I wondered- is anyone else out there as movie/books addicted as me?
My name (one of many) round the house is Dobbie these days, and I remember that when reading The Catcher In The Rye I swore allot and called people a Royal pain in the....but.
How about you?

Not a movie, but Fawlty Towers quotes keep cropping up in my family.
e.g. When involved one of those conversations where you are just not getting through, Basil's impassioned "Please try to understand before one of us dies!" springs to mind.

Our children were mystified by our 'Life of Brian' quotes, until they saw the film the other night.

I'll say Star Trek - because I can swear in Klingon.
And Farscape - I use Crichton's "Earthisms"
The Mummy and The Mummy Returns I can quote the script - in ancient Egyptian...
At the meet on Saturday people were quoting from and laughing at "Withnail and I" but I've never seen it so I didn't understand.
I'm also a fan of Basil Fawlty, "Ees hamster Meester Fawlty"
"No Manuel, it's a rat".
"Ees no rat Meester Fawlty, ees hamster!"
"What kind of a view do you expect from a hotel in Torquay? Herds of roaming wilderbeest? The hanging gardens of Babylon?"
"He's dead?I knew those kippers were off!"

Often missquoted as "herds of wilderbeest sweeping majestically across the plane"
When you say you're going to the loo people often say "just a little more information than required". I can't remember people saying that before Pulp Fiction.

Ice Age... my husband and I watch that movie at least once every week, and our thought-patterns reflect it...

Princess Bride is at the top of the list, closely followed by Monty Python & the Holy Grail. I'm also a book junkie () and have reserved my copy of the next Potter book.

Withnail and I has a tendency to crop up occasionally - rather alarming since I've only seen it a couple of times.
Lord of the Rings has also had a very bad effect! Especially when watching other films it's stars have been in - I watched the Matrix a couple of weeks ago, couldn't not do the Hugo Weaving Elrond/Agent Smith comparisons.

Allow myself to introduce...myself.
Somehow Austin Powers (the original, before they spent money and it went a bit pants) has far too many bits that I can't help but quote at the most inappropriate moments. Genius.

Actually Elly, my housemate *did* give me a lance for Christmas!
Just a plastic thing, that unfurls like a telescope (or a lightsaber if you're that way inclined) but it's a great deal of fun. Am now saving up for a giant space-hopper so can go jousting!
Would love a sword...
