Current petty hate: washing cutlery. I don't mine washing plates and cups, and there's something almost therapeutic about scrubbing a burnt pot - but the knives and forks and spoons really annoy me.

Agree with hating automation for automation's sake. Worst offenders in my book are automatic taps, the entire washbasin cycle, doors on train toilets and many of the 'helpful' auto-complete type functions in Windows and other operating systems.
I would even include the doors you omitted. They're too slow and easily confused and normally impede an able-bodied persons progress more than their manual counterparts.

DVDs - Sometimes the Menu button won't work either
Another DVD petty hate: some of the 'language' menus make you choose both the spoken and the subtitles. This is good. What is definitely not good is when picking a language or a subtitle make you exit the menu, so if you have to change both, you need to enter there twice
And DVDs which offer you the choice, dubbed version or original with subtitle. No original without subtitle (I won't even mention those which don't offer the original at all!)
Yes, automation for the sake of it is quite too.

Snow, what snow? Oh those few paltry snowflakes that melt the second they hit the ground? I'm so peeved - in my travels across Scotland and NI over the past few years, I've inadvertently always been where the snow isn't. It then usually snows in the place I've just left.
I've lived in Edinburgh for the past three years and it just never seems to lie here at all. Look at all the weather charts- snow always above and below Edinburgh but never in it. I love the snow and I really miss it Don't think I've walked through deep snow this century at all yet.

Once the trailers start on a DVD you can jump from one to the next with "Skip to next scene". While the intial copyright blurb is on, I use the time to get myself a drink and a blanket and curl up on the sofa.

Modern Kinder egg toys. What's the point if there's no construction involved? A one-piece figure with no movable parts? Hmph.

The fact that there are no train lines going as far as my home county and the distance between Great Vic Street and my college campus. Grrr. Even worse when it’s snowing like a mofo, so I arrive drenched!

Wild over-estimates of the depth of snow.
Today, people coming into work were telling me that there was 3 inches of it in the car park. I could see it. It was about an inch. I saw a viewer's photo on the morning news sent by a guy claiming that there was 6 inches. Looked like about half of that to me.
STOP IT!

I bet they were blokes. 3" always becomes 6 or 8" to some blokes.
