Mentally noting my petty hates of the day as I'm out and about, then sitting down in front of the computer and being unable to remember what they were ...

Going up the loft to find something, getting distracted and finding something else and forgetting what it was you went up to find in the first place. Until you're back down and you've put the ladder away.

I meant to add to my priority boarding rant, that I actually *prefer* to board the plane later. That way you can see who's on already and avoid the noisy/annoying-looking people. If you're on first you're totally at the mercy of others for your comfort throughout the whole flightsmiley - erm

Nope, just can't find a single advantage to 'priority boarding' at all.

Is it too obvious to mention the way the country grinds to a halt for 1-inch of snow? (I respect that some areas got more that than and within their rights to grind to a halt).

"Mamma Mia! the DVD- I detest Abba as it is and my flatmates have it up full blast... "

Not saying there's anything wrong with exercising free-choice, but what leads one to detest ABBA?

While I don't have their Gold album, haven't seen Mama Mia, can't name the brunette woman, but I always enjoy a singalong if a track comes on ...

The country grinds to a halt for 1-inch of snow? How often do you get snow? Given England's reputation for rain I would have thought snow was fairly common. (I'm assuming you mean England.)

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am...

Snow's not as common as you might think thanks to the Jet Stream and Gulf Stream... without those we'd have the same climate as Canada.

"How often do you get snow?"

Before today, for where I live on the South coast, I'd say ...
- we had an hour last April that was gone by 10am. That was the hardest snowfall I can remember since 1995/96. I recall a bit in 1993 and perhaps 1991, 1987we had a day or two.
- last serious blizzard's worth was Feb 78 ...

Today really wasn't much more than an inch, maybe two. I woke up at 7 this morning and everything was covered. It was still snowing. By the afternoon I could see my paths and patio again. Yet most of the schools around here were closed. It took me 1hr15mins to drive five miles this morning ...

Walking on an otherwise deserted path with a person just behind you, walking at almost exactly the same speed.

I had it for about 20 minutes earlier - there was this guy about 8/9 feet behind me but walking at the same speed so he stayed there. It was annoying.

It's annoying the other way round, too - when you've got the same natural pace as the person in front, and just *know* they think you're following them. smiley - laugh

I usually try to overtake. Even if they catch up they should realise they aren't being stalked then - but I'm sure they get agitated when they hear the quickening footsteps behind them. smiley - evilgrin

I wasn't remotely threatened. The problem is I'm quite a quick walker so I'm hard to overtake.

I've had the experience of being the person behind as well. It was a dark street quite late at night. I decide to cross over the road, just to show the person in front I wasn't following them and she decides to cross at exactly the same time smiley - doh

I end up calling out to her and explaining and then recrossing the road.

It has come to my notice in the last 24 hours, that I get really irritated by the non-word "slippy". People have been using this non-word quite a lot lately.

THE WORD IS S*DD*NG "SLIPPERY"!

Oh, and whilst I'm at it:-

Socks are not kept in a "draw" they are kept in a drawer.
It is NOT a PIN number. That would be Personal Identification Number number.
The use of the word "previous" is not neccessary in connection with the word "history" as in "previous history". ALL history is previous.

And with regard to the world being "slippy" out there, colleagues who are so worried about getting home 3 miles away that they have to go home mid-afternoon when the roads are fine (I drove past this colleagues house 4 times testerday in connection with my job - the last time 6 hours after she had gone home.

Intollerant middle aged men who rant in the mornings......er, oh, that's me. Sorry!

Thank you. I feel much better now.
