I see your points ... sorry.
I've forgotten what it is like to have small children.
Petty Hates ... people talking on the bus/tube/meeting on the mobile!!

People listening to rubbish music on those little speakers on the bus/train. Why do I have to share your bad musical taste?

Hi Elly,
I am with you on this one, but its not the bad taste in music, each to their own, its the intrusiveness and general inconsiderate behaviour. Or is it us for being too uptight. Where is the balance?

I can't remember if I've posted this before - apologies if I have. A while ago I saw a programme about how Japan's geology has shaped its people's outlook and behaviour. One thing the presenter said was that personal hi-fi originated, and was popular, in Japan because of the lack of space. With personal hi-fi, you have *your* choice of music in *your* personal space. The minute people start sharing their music with me, in whatever way, they are invading my personal space and I get tetchy. My favourite bit in "The Voyage Home" is when Spock uses a Vulcan neck pinch on the youth with the ghetto-blaster. I'd love to be able to do that with some people.
Following on from that, am I the only one who gets a headache from the heavy bass some people have on their car radios? I hate being stuck in traffic when somebody nearby has their stereo on loud, with a heavy 'boom boom boom' from the bass line. I'm always glad to get away from the eejit who thinks that everybody shares their taste in music. It's not just another invasion of my personal space. This one feels like it's damaging my health.

Funny isnt it? I dont mind people talking on their mobiles in public at all... To me it's much the same as if they were having a conversation with a friend sitting next to the. SO LONG AS (and this goes for mobile friend or real one) they arent too loud about it! As soon as someone thinks their coversation is more important than everyone else's I get irritated...

Agreed re the stupid little speakers on buses thing- I've been there before.
Another one: waiting for exam results, being told they’re out on Thursday and nothing comes!

I agree with Robyn on that one. From my experience, people have become better at using mobiles in public - they used to shout in it, now mostly they speak normally. Heck, it took me some time to realise that I didn't need speaking particularly loud in my end for the people at the other end to hear me well! I still like better big phones though. My dream would be the kind you see in old black-and-white movies
I don't like either idiots having too loud music in their cars, no matter if they have the same taste as I do: it seems that even nice music comes out as a tuneless boom-boom-boom anyway

I never could get the hang of Thursdays
Well, the day is not over yet Actually, very often they try to arrange that if the announcement doesn't come on said day, it arrives actually earlier. Just to prevent people getting angry with no results

I'm almost embaressed to use my phone in public, I'm a teenager so I'm meant to have a new one. Then again, I'm also meant to have a life instead of sitting posting on internet message boards because no one else can be arsed to ring me or sort something to go out.

I'm trying to replace the high-energy, short-lifespan spotlights that the previous owner of my house put in wth some modern downlights, preferably LED ones. But they all seem to come in packs of three.
Why three? How many people have triangular rooms for ****'s sake?
Petty Hates
toybox Posted Aug 17, 2007
Could be 3 rooms, or one room with 2 lamps and one with a single lamp.
Triangular rooms, that's an interesting concept

French movie translations
I can think of no excuse whatsoever for calling Darth Vader 'Dark Vador' or translating 'Cruel Intentions' by 'Sexe Intentions' (which is plain wrong French).

The size of jar that chutney comes in. And then reqests that you use it within 6 weeks. Does anyone actually use that much chutney?

eloisa Posted Aug 21, 2007
Here's a petty hate for you. I am too easily suggestable. I'm reading through these posts thinking about them and I think 'Ooh, chutney. Do I have any chutney? I do, it's apple. Mmmm.'
Now I have to go and find a cheese and chutney sandwich.
And It's All Your Fault!
