You can call me TC Posted Jun 29, 2007
*Puts hand up* Me, too - female - hate mornings.
Dave - as for your MP4 recordings, here's a daft but doable suggestion - can you make an analogue recording and then convert that to MP3 or ogg or whatever? Not at all satisfactory, but if you're needing to listen to them to just learn the words, it could do for a while.

Does it work if you rip it from the itunes cd into WMP? That should convert it, I think.

Windows Media player: discovering while browsing the help files that you can not only add lyrics to the music you're playing, but that this can be synchronised to the music. Sounded cool, although office karaoke might be frowned upon!
A false start or two later I discover "this application is not available on your version of Windows Media Player" and I can't get it as it doesn't seem to be compatible with XP.... grrr.... why tempt me if i can't have it...

Yael Smith Posted Jun 29, 2007
Nothing's comapatible with XP. not even XP itself. Yet another petty hate of mine... and if it is compatible with XP, then... wait for it! it's not compatible with Mac. Or Windows 2003. Or something. XP ruins everything!

Love, babe, dahlin', pet and any of a number of other terms of endearment from people I don't know, generally said 15 times in any 2 minute exchange. I am none of these things, in fact I am quite an unpleasant person deep down and while they may think they are being friendly all they are doing is making me fantasise about nailing their ears to a wall.
And breathe.

If Mr. Gates actually had to count anything since inventing Windows, don't you think he'd still be busy counting his money note by note still, tod?

Drivers who slow down for speed cameras then put their foot down as soon as they've passed them. Especially in built-up areas.
How many other laws do these people think it's ok to break as long as no-one sees?

That murder one's a bit of a doddle. Commit the crime and kill the witness at the same time. Nobody saw you, therefore it didn't happen. Very

There are many kids who play on the streets round this area I live next to a busy park. However, I think I've missed the road sign that says "This is a race track. Drive as fast as you like".
And don't get me started on mini motorbikes

Whoops... I know I do this while I'm out. In my defence I will say it's a hangover from a younger me who spent some of his formative years street patrolling in wonderful places like Belfast and Stroke City, where you learn to read a street - and the people on it. There will probably soon be another generation of ex-Toms who will stare at you in the street, then move on to the next person, because they leant to do this in places like Basra. OK, so we also learnt to use it to intimidate, to put the thought into the other person's head "I know EXACTLY who you are, who you associate with, and what you are currently thinking", but I try not to use this form of the Stare unless I have to (some people might read it as a challenge).
I have been mistaken for an undercover copper by people who recognise what the Look might signify.... so apologies. We know it makes you feel uncomfortable - that's part of the reason fir using it in its original context - but it's a hard thing to switch off. On some streets, it's even a survival technique.

I find that when I am out jogging that people stare at me in a way that they never would if I was just casually walking. Noel Edmunds. I also find that someone will shout something - be it abuse or unfunny lines like "run forest run" - virtually every time I jog. I have tried to suss out the psychology of this; maybe they think that they can shout abuse safely because you are such a dedicated jogger that you will not interrupt your jog for anything! One day they will get a shock....

Long haired lads get the same thing (which often aggrivates me more than the person it's aimed at). And anyone with a side-fringe becomes emo. Never noticed it with joggers, but then again, that could be why I mostly see them in twos.
If you ever do make your point, I applaud you.
