I purchased the telescopic waterproof version but it is so heavy they should really attach some trolley wheels to it smiley - erm

Wonder if that is something they took to offer especially in North Europe? I got one as well, from an ad, but I swear that it's what's been ruining my main battery and making it go bipolar on me as soon as the rear crankwheel gets going.

Mine's a Northern European design - very sturdy, but it took me a while to get used to the left-handed threads. I left it out the last two winters and the urfer didn't curl up at all, which was an unexpected bonus.

Is that one of the Sjöberg and Erikkson ones? They used a high-carbon smelt process which reduces brittleness in cold temperatures. The original Sjöberg's grandfather did an apprenticeship in Sheffield and married a Yorkshire lass which is why Sjöberg's first name was Jedediah.

I have a framed and signed photograph of Jebediah Sjöberg being presented with an award from the European Metalworker's Federation which is in pride of place in my workshop. He single-handedly invented the quick release skewer mechanism which in turn brought micro-adjustable seatpost clamps to the fore.

Yes, and more than one trip to A&E for the more inquisitive hobbyist!

The Fire Brigade's a better bet when a seat-clamp's half sprung; sometimes what's needed is brute force - and those boys aren't ignorant.

Damn it I've over tightened the corset adjuster and now all the bearings have been pushed out through the pressure valve, which obviously has done no good to any of the splinges.

It's going to be a lot of work with a magnet and a pair of tweezers I think.

Have you tried greasing it and then twisting the twin flanges around 32 degrees?

Sjöberg and Erikkson? No smiley - envy. All I can tell of the factory name is " n & Son" (well, " & Søn", really). Oh, and that it rattles when the forward steam pressure is between 27 and 31.5. And on Thursdays.

My problem is that the fluctuating extreme variations between the inflow pressure and the desired, final reduced pressure causes failure of the spring-loaded, heat-resistant diaphragm of the variable valve. Of course, on Thursdays I turn the thing off completely so as to avoid total melt-down.

When IKEA bought the rights to produce their own version here in Denmark I bought one, because it was so cheap, since you assemble it yourself

Now I am looking at one valve, three screws and 42 rivets which I don't know where to put smiley - huh

Mr. Dreadful - But really I'm not actually your friend, but I am...

What kind of valve is it? There are a couple which aren't actually essential if you use the other ones properly.

Ah the Telefunken U47 - that brings back memories smiley - smiley We learned to make those in the scouts - I've still got the badge. We used to find parts from WW II planes that crashed in the Sussex woods. I've still got my grandad's Old Holborn tin full of cat's whiskers.

If you really need one, you'll find a Telefunken U47 in Joe's Garage. You might have to hunt around for it, though, as it's quite a while since it was last used.[Unsuitable/Broken URL removed by Moderator]
