Official collective nouns are brilliant - a parliament of Owls, a murmuration of starlings and so on, but I would like to propose we make some up. My first offering is 'an embarrassment of socks' (a phrase especially useful just after Christmas)

Oi, Captain! Watch what you say about apprentices! I was one, a long time ago. We weren't (all) useless, we were just treated as if we were! 
It should be 'A myopia of spectacle-wearers', as hypermetropic people don't wear them all the time. Most myopics do, unless the myopia is very slight. 
(Put those two smileys together and you get a smiling spectacle-wearer. Honest!)

Found a copy of Usage & Abusage from the 60's or something in a charity shop the other day. It has loads of these in, included the somewhat memorable 'a Harrassment of Wives' (or something similar) which perhaps would not get included today!
