Episteme Posted Jul 5, 2002
I started feeling old when the first year students stopped being born in the 70's. I fully agree with the sentiment that proper birth dates shouldn't start with 8.
Oh, and don't even get me started on the music... I felt really old the other day when my cousin asked me if I had any Pink Floyd, and I realised I'd gotten all my Pink Floyd records before CDs appeared.

Well servers and computers age pretty damn fast. They can pretty much retire after 6 years.

But I really hadn't thought you were that old Marjin. Pension ready and all.
1980 was a good year And we got to experience the weirdness of the 80's, without being blamed for the bad haircuts and pastel colours.

Realising that most of my contemporaries from school have partners, kids in school, and are now onto their divorces
I found out this morning that another "perfect" couple aren't.

I find it hard to imagine how some could have missed the 80s and some of the 70s (I only remember from about 75 onwards) but I'm reliably informed that if you can remember the 60s then you weren't really taking part so I guess I didn't miss out there.

PQ Posted Jul 5, 2002
Well I can honestly say I have a proper birthdate (ie it starts with a 7) but I managed to be born after Maggie got elected so at least I can't be blamed for that.
I remember Live aid - we saved up a fiver in coppers and sent it to bob geldof in ashoe box (can't quite remember the logic behind that - surely the postage cost more that the donation?)
Growing up in Liverpool I managed to experience the essence of the 70s (or at least the orange curtains and fake wood wall covering side of it - not to mention more than a touch of corderoy) combined with the best of the 80s (dayglo clothes and home brewing)
