Realising that I "don't get" the music that these teenagers are into. (Nu-Metal?!)

I am the mother of a fully grown adult born in the 80's so there that makes me feel old.
Mind as much her taste in music spans from The Who,The Stones,The Kinks,David Bowie to the Smiths,Adam Ant,Suede,Pulp I feel quite at home discussing music with her.

Wel being born in the 70s. That 80's show makes me feel old bacause I look at it say "buy they got it wrong!"

I work at a poly ans students make me feel old but the staff make me feel so young. One younger staff member is having a birthday next week and I'll be her age in 2016. But the students that can't really remember the 80's aarrrgggghhhh!

My mother is 49 this year and still buys new music

They've done a remix of Rhytm of the Night it seems. Part of all that dance music that came out in the early nineties. About the time I started listening to pop music, I probably should feel old.

My friends daughter whose just turned eleven, has boobs and started her period as ten makes me feel VERY OLD!!

Talking (or - worse - working) with someone who appears to be a fully functioning adult, and then realising that they missed the whole of the 80s because they were playing with lego, and learning to talk, and doing the other things that small children do.

Watching old TV shows and realising that I am much the same age or older than the old-farts who starred in them at the time. (The Good Life and the early East Enders shows spring to mind - Dirty Den doesn't look so old or so dirty any more).

Thats about it really. Though every now and then I look in the mirror and my mother looks back at me.

I felt a bit old when I saw a bithdate that had 88 on it. That's not a proper birthdate! Birthdates begin with 6 or 7...

But the main thing that makes me feel old is when I have the chance to go out for the evening (about once a fortnight), and I chose to stay at home instead. Where's the wild woman gone?

I was a bridesmaid recently (!) and in the hairdresser, I notice that the staff were all barely beyond getting their second set of teeth. I asked the stylist "Why are all haridresser so young? Whwere do hairdresser go when they get old?" She looked at me as if I was mad and said "But I'm old! I'm nearly thirty!"

Good grief....

I was still getting over the shock of working with people who weren't borm when Star Wars was released when a new colleague arrived - too young to remember Live Aid! Shouldn't be allowed....
