Incog, it's even worse when they are both taller than you (or how ever many offspring you have).
The only thing shorter than me is the cat.
They all still all react to 'the Look' though!

Is that the look that says:
"no matter what you do or say I am older and wiser than you and I am right and you are wrong"?
I haven't any kids of my own but have been perfecting that look for use at bus stops and in shops!!!

Close, but its more like 'just try it, Buster'.
They then know its much wiser to back down, shut up, stop what they are doing or whatever the appropiate response!

It's all relative isn't it? And a state of mind. Generally I don't feel old but I realise the years are creeping by when:
some people locally I sort of regarded as contempories are planning fortieth birthday celebrations & I realise they're nearly 10 years younger than me;
I note that I qualified before current students at work were born;
I can't sit on the floor comfortably for hours on end - or if I do, I can't move!
On the other hand there are still plenty of people older than me, I feel younger in attitude, interests etc than I did in my 30s, but with a bit more knowledge & experience.
It's just that all the policemen are getting younger.............

Quote from some drama I just caught the end of on Saturday night on the Beeb (Judi Dench played the character who said it) - "Old people are just young people who've been around a while."

I really felt old when I realised my son's friends GRANDparents were my husband's age (and his grandfather's terribly dishy).

It's great discovering how many h2g2ers are my age or more!
