Ger 1:0 USA
I'm sad but proud of my team... hopefully this will be a good sign of future World Cup glory and an increase of the popularity of soccer/football here in the states.

Yes! America would have been so full of it if they'd won. Probably also would have declared it a victory in the war against terrorism. Now they can go back to their own sports and leave football to us. Nice one Germany, bratwursts are on me.

A crumb of comfort for us England fans....
Who in the England squad won't be around next world cup?
Seaman, Keown, Sheringham, Southgate (?), Martyn (?).
In other words, the keeper and some squad players.
So the future's bright - this world cup was perhaps too early, but I think we can expect great things of this England team in Euro 2004 (assuming they qualify, of course.....)
Otto.
Who was very impressed by Brazil...

Now England are out of the World Cup, we can all take the usual pre-Wimbledon "support Henman" stance, and when he is defeated in the quarter or semi-finals, we can all condemn him as being a load of c**p. It's amazing any English sportsmen dare to play at all with all the abuse they get when they don't quite win.
I hope the England squad get the heroes welcome they deserve on their return.

IT'S! NOT! FAIR!
I mean, I am german, but this was the lousiest bit of soccer I've ever seen in my life... USA much better, but without being lucky enough... If it was up to me, I'd send Germany home for being absolutely boring.
Anyway, I'm looking forward for Senegal vs Turkey... COME ON, SENEGAL!

I agree with that and that arm off the line USA should have been given a penalty. They were far more creative than the Germans. I think the Germans were lucky to hold on.
Mind you I was keeping Rolls Royce Deutchesland office updated with emails quicker than the German website they were waiting for.

Almost forgot about this... but you're perfectly right... and I saw it over the line completely, anyway, but I'm no referee

How can you blame the goalie when you lose? You only lose by the other side scoring more goals, which can only be done if they get past the goalie, therefore he would be blamed every time you lose.
It was a flukey shot that went past Seaman and he tried his best to redeem the situation. In the intense afternoon Japanese heat our poor chaps were just out-played and exhausted. I blame the weather!!

You can't ask any more of someone than to give their best.
I don't feel "let down" at all.
I am sorry England didn't win, but I am proud of the team and thankful we had such a great run.At least we didn't get beaten by Argentina!
Seeing all the patriotism has been wonderful, I remember not so long ago a council ordered a man to remove the St George flag from his OWN flagpole because it was deemed racist.
Let's hope this is the end of PC gone mad.
