That new Swedish girl, a lot of the guys here go over and talk to her, and make her laugh and such. She seems to be enjoying their company. If I talk to her I end up looking like a moron. Why is life like that?

It's difficult. There's no helpful thing to say, even though there are lots of good ways of making it better ... but saying them makes it worse. Ultimately it's down to confidence, usually.

Xan, m'dear, what makes you think you end up looking like a moron when you talk to her?
Why shouldn't she enjoy your company just as much as theirs. We certainly do (I'd venture to suggest probably more than we would theirs if we knew them - 'cos you're interesting and intelligent and funny and sweet and just downright lovely and they can't be half as nice as you are.)
And don't worry about being shy - even if you find yourself showing it. A lot of women would rather be with someone shy than with men that think they're god's gift to women
