Did people read the story? Did they like it? Do they want more? If they do the should say so now. Given that I am a slow and plodding writer, anyone who wants to see another story no more than three months from now should speak up immediately.

Thank you for sharing your story with us Corinth.
You may be a slow writer but you are certainly not plodding.
Please may we have some more? smiley - grovel

Well then, my next question would be what do you want me to write about? More girl stuff? Have plenty of that in my past. Or would you prefer something else involving the pirates of Sumatra, for example? Or hitchhiking in Sardinia? Or...

Sounds like you've done a lot of interesting things in your life. Maybe I should try it some time.

Would it fit you though Xan?

Doing interesting things wouldn't fit me? What are you trying to say?

Methinks you didn't hear her correctly. It's hard to talk with one's foot in one's mouth.

That's better.
I only meant, Xan, wouldn't his (is Corrie a he?) life be a bit long on you? And mebbes a tad baggy?
You'd need to take it up a bit (and possibly iron out a few wrinkles smiley - devil)

Bravo! smiley - cheers
Lovely story. I hope you will give us more!

And when you've told us them all, we'll gather them together and you can publish them under the title "Where can a fella find some nice friendly girls?" smiley - cheers

Truth: Never have I read anything so nearly perfectly written as to bring out the screaming pedant Editor in me. I feel it as a calling, a vocation to Edit for you. There are a couple of serious stylistic flaws at the beginning that could be turned round to capture an audience sooner. Yes, with my help you could go from being a really-really-really-really good writer to a great writer. smiley - bigeyes

peace
jwf (awfully glad to have you back)

Very well, sir. Copy, paste, edit, and email me the result. I'm rather curious as to what you find screamworthy. What are stylistic flaws anyway? That sounds like the sort of thing you learn in college. Never bothered with that. Just wrote.

Xanatic,
You could also just wear it around your ankles, like I do.

Er, ahem, perhaps you could show the author the same favor, jwf?

I assume, theanthrope, from your intense interest in the editorial process, that you liked the story?

I am so glad you stopped by Corinth. I was sitting here wondering why Theanthorpe was so passionate in his demands.

As ~jwf~ suggests a book containing a series of your stories would be most interesting.

Hmm, well if what you mean a life is what in Danish is called a "liv" then you're right. I'm too skinny for that. I need a fat transplant.

Corinth, I like your style of writing. It is rather poetical without the usual nauseau you get with poetry smiley - smiley

The nausea, Xan refers to, is often the result of vertigo and treacle.
I sometimes also refer to this too-sweet and too-intense poetic style as the 'too much cotton-candy on a roller-coaster effect'.
Pop songs are full of it.
"..tangerine porters with looking glass eyes.."
I hasten to add, that this most certainly is not the case in Corrie's short story, though some might argue - and it is those few moments of 'instability' I would correct.
And I will. By starting a new thread under the article itself titled Editorial Advice. When it's ready I will post a link here.

PS: Beth's stamp of approval is high praise indeed Corrie!
PPS: Corrie's sincere and gentile romanticism and contempt for pornographic thrills, remind me that a new collection of good love stories has been wanting since Don Juan got dog-eared.

Thank you, all of you.
I must say I dislike the drippy-sweet-goo also. But I strive to acheive an effect close to it: freshness and clarity; the sweetness of apples, not saccharine.
I look forward to your editorial advice, jwf, but did you meen genteel rather than gentile (non-Jewish)?
I'm working on another story, perhaps one that will do a better job of offending the reader.
