Ommigosh

A "tubbet" is a word for punnet (receptacle for strawberries) or any small plastic container. This was coined by my young son and is now in general use throughout our family.

It seems that every house-hold has its own name for the hand-held TV remote control device. (and I can see why after typing all that!)
We called it a "bleeper" but again my young son changed that to "looper" which it has now become.
What do you call it?

Sorry, can't put a name to your bodily gunk as requested but wasn't there an entry in the Meaning Of Liff for something similar? Can't remember what.

Phryne- 'Best Suppurating Actress'

Neither do I. It's a phrase which appears to be Strictly Local and is used to mean a backwater, shoddy, provincial hole of a place. I cannot work it out and all the explanations I've received have made no sense. I hoped someone would shed light...
RE. Gunk etc. I need (cannot live without- no, really) a word that can be applied only to the stuff which collects around piercings. 'Liff' I think referred to spots. Research suggests there's a huge niche market for a word like this!

Niche has a nice ring to it. But maybe you'll want to change the spelling so people don't go confusing it with niches. A double -e might be nice.

Neesh:n, 1.the gunk around piercings consisting of dust particulats and dead white blood cells. 2. 'cor-neesh', a humidor for camphor.
adj, 'neesh' opposite of 'neat'
adv, 'neeshy' opposite of 'neat'

My friend used to say "I've got to get a wiggle on if I want to finnish this" or "Better get a wiggle on, if you don't want to be late" and the like. I thought this was some kind of regional slang, but whomsoever I use it to now (and, oh, do I use it) I get the same funny look. So I'll credit her.

I like 'The Buttons' for the remote.
