h2g2 The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy: Earth Edition

Something deeply embarassing has happened to me today (of the toe curling kind). Anyone else ever had to cope with this ? I'm redder than red at the moment.

Tucking my skirt into my knickers before I left the bathroom, and walking down the street

Wandering through Do-it-all looking for dado rails and asking for d****s

Spending twenty minutes talking with someone I hadnt seen for a while, and only realising half way through the conversation that I was calling them by the wrong name, and asking them the wrong questions, because I thought they were someone else

Owning three Billy Joel CDs

Carefully slotting a CD into a gap in the PC casing, instead of the CD drive

Having to call out the locksmiths, and finding the key to my locker in my purse, three days later

Saying "It isn't a Dell, its a Sony" when someone asked me where the "del" key was on my laptop

Being caught taking cheese into Sweden

Okaaay... How could anyone ever compete with that...

Makes me feel a whole lot better.

In fact I have just realised it is 5 Billy Joel CDs because two of them are double albums....!

Well there was having a very private descusion with a friend of mine who is a DJ and he left the mic on so the whole bar could here it.

- i tripped over a 2 foot high wall.

- i fell down the stairs in my school's auditorium in front of about 30 people.

- 30 min after the above, i knocked a set piece over on my own head.

- i walked around for a few hours with a hole in the seat of my favorite skirt.

- i backed my car into a cement block and dented the bumper.

trust me, there are more, it's just that i can't remember them at the moment... i'll be back to post more

Well, it's how we feel here sometimes, and sometimes we wish it really was that way (usually after watching the political news). Except now our current mayor likes to call it the Capital of the World. Egotistical, us? Nah.

There was an impostor online last night using my well researched name, the only connection i have was being a innocent by stander on that fateful night. Which i must add amused me for years.

New York was the capital of the United States from 1785 to 1790 (mostly under the Articles of Confederation). Before that, it was Philadelphia. Washington, DC was selected as the new capitol in 1789 as part of a compromise during the creation of the Constitution, but it took a little while to be built up (it was mostly a swamp). The first Congress was held in New York, and George Washington was sworn in as the First President a few blocks from where I am now. So you were right, as long as you didn't say when.
