This hasn't JUST happened, but happened when I was on holiday last week.

Dropped my mobile phone in a field. Found it next morning after it'd been rained upon. To my surprise it was still switched on and could receive calls. However, certain functions e.g. Address Book' weren't working. I allowed it to dry on a sunny windowsill for a couple of days, after which the condensation had cleared from the screen. I then made the mistake of switching it off, after which I haven't been able to switch it on again .

My daughter once dropped her MP into a tubler of water, and says that it suddenly began to work again after 3 weeks of drying out.

Does anyone know what component(s) water dasmages in a MP and whether this is generally irreparable?

I've asked Askh2g2 and someone has suggested placing it in a container of dried rice.

Well according the the Gadget Show, that rice idea is one way of drying it out, as using hair drier, you can also leave all the parts of a bit of kitchen roll, near a radiator.

Its the Microchips on the cards that get damaged, as well as the connectors. Some phones never get over being soaked, but others do, goo luck with it

or you could try switching it off and on at the wall!!!!!

Or do a System Restore.

I found a mobile yesterday while walking, someone had left it on a bench in the middle of nowhere. Fortunately, one of the people listed in the address book was "Mum", so I rang her, and she told me the address to post it back to its owner

Just discovered the LAN cables in the office here *can* be used for non-work computers Back in the internet!

I'm angry. Some 'friends' of my parents are once again not here, I have to take care of their post anyhow and today they called at 6:30 (!!!) to tell me that they got a text message saying the power was out in their house and I had to go there immediately to switch it back on. Because of the freezer.
I asked if I really had to go immediately and yes, I had to go because it was already out for 7 hours. I told them they had better called me at midnight than at 6:30.

At first I wanted to ignore the phone but it rang at least 20 times! I already thought there was an emergency with one of my grandparents or something...

Now I'm once again sleepy because I couldn't sleep enough although I had planned to sleep long today so I am in a good shape to start building my model.

What just happened?; woke early coffee, cigarette, coffee, cigarette, coffee, coffee, toast, coffee, cigarette, shower, cigarette, coffee and lots of TXT messages and meeting William in oo less than an hour err sure there was soemthign else I was goign to do today Nope... can't remember... think I'll have another coffee now... and check my phone for TXT messages

Arrrgghh. Just get out of there, Tav! Don't even tell them. Just leave a note on the kitchen table: "Moved out to get a life." I know somebody who did just that (although that one waited until he was 34). You know him, too...
