Things that make you feel old.
Polly and Pixie Posted Feb 27, 2007
Feeling old is also about having a short snooze whilst watching the afternoon film, and knowing that you needed it! Groan.

Just guessing Princess but the two year old is probably why you feel tired all the time, nothing to do with age. Two year old just keep you going and going.

Admitting that I need a hearing test
Ah well, at least that "eccentric old biddy" look I've been perfecting will complement the ear trumpet nicely.
Princess, were you having IVF treatment at one time? Or am I confusing you with someone else...

I think Princess's youngest is 12, Cookie...
I do agree that wearing a coat over my bump could have made me look fat, rather than pregnant, but the bump was sticking out so much and everything else (arms, legs) looked so thin in comparison (it was a few weeks before the head dropped down) that I don't think there was any chance of mistake...
Oh, well, I had her now and she'll be 1 in 2 weeks' time.

I need a hearing test as well. It doesn't make me feel old, because I've always needed one [and never had one].

Princess maybe she takes after her mum.
The hearing test yes, that is what makes people feel old going deaf. My mother in law in driving us around the bend. Deaf as a very deaf thing she misunderstands phone calls and the television but will not get a hearing aid.

Both my in-laws were hard of hearing in their old age. Mum-in-law got a hearing aid as soon as she could, but dad-in-law just didn't want one. He saw wearing a hearing aid as some kind of stigma. He took the attitude that "there's nothing wrong with being deaf". Maybe not, but there's also nothing wrong with doing something to improve the situation. Once he got a hearing aid, he was amazed at the number of sounds he'd been missing. Sometimes he'd just sit and listen to the bird song he could hear for the first time in years. Like dad-in-law, my dad took a long time to get a hearing aid. Unlike dad-in-law, he wouldn't use it unless he was made to.
My mum is getting hard of hearing, but she's not at the stage where she needs a hearing aid - yet! The thought of going deaf terrifies hubby, mainly because he loves to listen to music and dreads losing that pleasure. I have a similar attitude to going blind. Most of my hobbies are visual - reading, needlework, using my PC for various things.

Ha! I suffered from achey hips for 18 months and was convinced I'd need a hip replacement. Turned out to be trochanteric bursitis - an inflammation of the lubricating discs between muscle and joint. Nothing to do with getting old.

I've had aches and pains in my joints all my life so I can't use that as a fair indicator. Started having my ahir dyed once a month now so I wont be able to tell when the grey arrives.

Ok, now I feel really bad as most of the last few posts on this thread have actually made me feel young, not old!!
I have aches and pains now that I didn't have 5 years ago, I have to be more careful nowadays so that I don't seriously injure various parts of myself when I'm working, but I still feel 21!!
So I'm gonna keep playing at being an adult........ until someone finds me out!!!
Apart from that, I found my reading glasses today, I lost them 2 years ago, I haven't missed them so far so I'm not gonnna start worrying about them now!!

P.S. Apparently you're only as old as the wo/man you feel!!
