The trouble with Being A Gentleman and Allowing Ladies To Sit Down is that you're just as likely nowadays to get your head kicked in for being a sexist . (By the way, I'm female).
As for not being able to feel old when you're young, well I'm only 24 but I have friends in their fifties and sixties who are younger than me.

That's what bugs me... the idea that being a gentlemen is the same as being sexist.

I didn't say it was... just that some women see it that way, which has left many men afraid to stand up on buses. Of course, some of them aren't being gentlemen, just can't be bothered to stand up. (Incidentally, when I was a teenager I had a little fainting problem which left me unable to stand up on moving buses. I WAS NOT BEING SELFISH OR LAZY!)

I have to say I would not want to be a young man or woman today, it has all got very confusing. The girls want to appear hard and the boys want to appear sensitive. I don't like to see girls being lads and I can't imagine any lad having the nerve to offer his seat to one of these pint swilling foul mouthed "laddies".

I must admit I'm a bit of a tomboy... And I'm a cross-dresser, too, these are men's jeans I'm wearing.
And I used to get cross at men who would open doors for me, but I'm past that. A sign of age?
I still think whoever gets to the door first should hold it open, though

Common courtesy, much like common sense, is very rare.

Oh I know... I was just saying that it bugs me that people do think it's sexist.

Not being able to stand up for long without feeling tired... [walking I'm fine, but I really can't stand still for as long as I can walk, for some bizarre reason].

Oh I know the feeling on that one Midge, if I stand still for too long my back starts really aching, but if I'm walking or working then I'm fine!!
That's probably why I hate clothes shopping, far too much hanging around!!

I agree Mala, I've only been clothes shopping twice in the last year, and they were both in the same week, that's enough for me for a while!!
Something else that makes me feel old, when I listen to a radio repeat that was recorded in 1998, and it doesn't seem that long ago!! And the jokes are still funny...?!

This is a syndrome that I know as "museum back".
yes, I'm at the age when going to visit a museum is an interesting thing that I want to do, rather than being forced to do by parents/school/kidnappers/aliens/tourists*.
That makes me feel old.
