Closure of the R2 NACA Board
The Myth Of Fingerprints Posted Dec 5, 2006
Elentari,
Whilst I am a big fan of Douglas Adams I am not sure that this is what we were looking for when we became refugees.
Personally, I am looking for a message board where I can discuss Current Affairs and other issues.
Even if we use the Askh2g2 which you have mentioned, I don't think we will use it for what it was intended.
Can we create our own little space here?

TOMF, we can discuss current affairs here: there's the forum at A1146917, and there's <./>askh2g2</.> for discussions. there's <./>miscchat</.> for -well, miscchat, and there are your personal spaces.

It's not up to me, but I don't think there would be a problem if you wanted to create an area to talk in.
(Click 'contribute' or on your personal space, click 'Add guide entry' and use that as a page to keep all your topics together.)
However, I do strongly encourage you to see the rest of h2g2 and get involved in that as well!

B'Elana,
Ok. Thanks. The Forum and Ask look like what I think we are looking for. Probably Ask fits the bill best.
Just trying to work out how to edit my personal space.
Will keep at it.
Ta.

To edit your space, find the 'Edit this page' button, which brings up the page to change it.

TMOF, You can start a Journal, the people you have on your friends list will get it automatically BUT you have to be careful what you say and how you say it, if you haven't seen them already have a look at the <./>HouseRule</.> it'll give you an idea of what is and isn't acceptable, The editors don't really like world affairs and politics discussed here, it's not against the rules but it's not a comfortable topic (We have people from all over the world here) and these discussions can often descend into mayhem and chaos very quickly, which creates more problems for the Italics, Mods, ACEs and other researchers, I'm not saying this always happens, there are some threads that have had no problems at all but it's not everyones cup of tea. Have you thought about the Radio 4 threads, current affairs and things are their thing.

This is a bit weird.
Why is the Radio 2 board closing?
Never seen this place before but I like the look of it.
Right up my street so to speak.

Hello existing folks.
I have been on here a few time previously and it was I who directed the R2 refugees here (I'm thinking of changing my moniker to Moses)
This may or may not be our new Jerusalem but either way, I think quite a few of the NACA boarders will find it interesing enough to make it a regular port of call.
Please be patient with us, it is like suddenly finding that we have been living in a three dimensional world and we now find we have a third dimension to contend with.
So, if you can please put up with our messageboard mentality for a while, I'm sure we will stop acting like the innocents abroad and try to fit in.
Some of our number think that we can set up a message board environment within this 'space' I don't know if that is possible but It would be nice if we could. If you make us welcome and point us in the right direction, I'm sure that the diverse cross section of people who previously inhabitted the R2 board would only benefit H2G2.

Hey everyone,
I think The Forum is the place to be.
Very similar conversations to the NACA board but (so far) more in depth and knowledgable.
The only downside it that it's open 24hrs and no 3 minute rule.
Have to try to control myself!

Victor much as the advice is well intended we are in a complicated "policitcal" h2g2 situation here to create OUR community we need to create "entry's" to the guide (not necessarily for peer review! I'll do it tomorrow) it's the only option the BBC have now left us with!!!!! SAD as it is they merged us with DNA and now they have pulled the plug so we will have to co-exist here. Sorry hootoo's but we have no choice
Hootoo this is just the beginning with DNA and now the closures of boards, we will ALL be hootoo before long IMO for what it is worth that's the route they have chosen and we will merge sooner or later.
If you want to change this then complain to the appropriate FEEDBACK area god knows what that is at that time of night!
I am one very annoyed BBC Taypayer

'Allo peeps. If you look up top, to the left, there's a bunch of buttons, one of which says 'My Conversations'. If you click it a little window will open with a list of the conversations you're subscribed to. Anything with an unread reply will be red. Then, if you like, read, in which case it will stop being red and turn black when it refreshes.
Dead handy it is.
Welcome to h2g2.
(I'm not an ACE but am bored, and there's only so many times one can watch repeats of 2pints).
