"This is like a commune for the rejects of society that just wouldn't conform."
Wait until you get on the wrong side of the Italics and before you ask the Italics are the Editors, so called because their names are in Italic Script

Wouldn't it be better to let them make up their own minds about the Italics, RG?

RG,
You are scaring me slightly maybe I took a wrong turn.
The "italics" sounds like something out a B-movie
So are they strict these Italics?

I'm just pointing out that it's not all beer and skittles on h2g2, while the rules are not as strict on h2g2 as it is on the messageboards, those that run the place are not like the mods on the boards, faceless, and cannot be yelled at and abused and before anyone yells "Two Face" at me yes I don't see eye to eye with the Italics and have had a number of run ins with Jimster, I'm just saying there are rules to be followed and behaviour that is expected, also h2g2, like the boards, has a Yikes button so anyone who goes mouthing off can expect to have their posting removed by ANYONE, not just the mods, also the Profanity filter applies here as well

The Italics are the paid BBC staff who run the site, Jims (though he's calling himself Smij now) and Natalie, who's calling herself something weird that I can't remember at the moment.
<./>Staff</.>
I've never had a problem with the Italics myself.

RAB, it depends on who you come across, what kind of day they are having and how far you push them. Jimster and Natalie are the Italics most seen in these parts, occasionally Jim Lynn, usually after an episode of Dr Who or Torchwood.

Sorry, that should be A132986.
And Natalie is calling herself Anatelia.

Cheers for the heads up RG I Don't find the urge to swear at the worst of times and have no desire to take up the habit .
The R2 MB was a bit random in its decisions so we are used to being pushed around a bit.

I wouldn't say the Italics push people around, though Reefgirl might disagree. As long as you stay on the right side of the House Rules you'll be fine.

Seriously tho, if this isn't the place for you, and we'll be sorry if it's not, but somewhere like Proboards might be worth a look, you can set it up however you want, appoint your own moderators and so on

They're Smij and Antelia, they're lovely people unless you really misbehave continuously, then they'll react. But usually, the community reacts before this happens.
You really shouldn't be afraid of our italics, the community can be quite tough, though.

Just don't go saying Dr Who is a wuss to Jimsters face and you'll probably be ok I don't think he's really forgiven me for coming out on the side of SG-1 in the great "Who's got the longest running series" debacle

And I once used the Dr Who Society thread to hide Jack when that game was going, talk about toys out of the pram and the fact that I don't like Torchwood and dared to says so didn't help either
