Christ, thank God I got a rely from a friendly face. This is all too much for a young Yorkshire Lad.
Victor gave me the heads up but I still don't know where I am.
What is this place?

h2g2 has it's own structure, we'd appreciate it if you stick to that. We're not a messageboard or a chatroom.
If you want to have discussions specific to R2 users, your personal spaces are the best place for it for now.

Oh, tut tut, ERic.
You just read all the links and it's all crystal clear!
But thanks, I think you gave me an idea for what I can write as an introduction to my personal space - defender of the downtrodden (i.e. looking out for number one).
Now what on earth could you put for yours, I wonder...

I don't mean to be stifling here, but h2g2 is a very different site to what you're used to, that's all.

Elantari, who are you? what is your role, what is this place?
I was directed here by a friend on the Radio 2 board but frankly I am lost. Perhaps a brief explanation from you might be in order.
I am not good at reading instructions, when all else fails, then I read the instructions.

Ok, I'm just an ordinary member of h2g2 who volunteered to be an ACE. This means I spend some time welcoming new researchers and answering their questions, and I happened to be online tonight when you all decided to join, so I came over to see if I could help.
h2g2 began life as a non BBC site, but has been with the Beeb for a few years now. The purpose of the site is to create the Earth edition of the Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy by writing entries on a range of subjects - like an online encyclopaedia, but more fun. Around that have grown various other areas like <./>Ask h2g2</.> for any burning questions, the Forum for serious discussion, and a whole range of rather pointless societies. I posted a link earlier in this thread to Douglas Adam's (our founder) vision of h2g2 and the h2g2 tour which should help answer any other questions.
Hope this helps!

Done my introduction!
ERic, you are the first entry in my friends list.
You can click on my name and find my introduction - hopefully. Why don't you leave me a message there? I think you click on 'discuss this entry'??

Woo hoo! I don't know where I've been, but it was great fun. That's what happens when you fiddle with time travel - unpleasantly like being drunk .
Nicely decorated, the h2g2 space, isn't it? Well found, Victor.
Quite a few R2 boarders washed up by the tempest, I see.
Thank you Elentari, for the hints and tips.

No problem! You'll get the hang of it soon enough, honestly!

Elentari is right, you'll all soon get the hang of the site. We've had many peple from radio2 come over before it started going downhill, and they've made lots of new friends here - as I'm sure you will, if you try to understand the site and the people here.

*waves to Bel*
As you can probably tell from her tagline, Bel is another ACE.
ACEs will always be happy to help you out with any questions you have; you can find the list of ACEs and a description of what we do at <./>ACE</.>. However, any researcher will probably be happy to help you out if we're not around.

Oh, I absolutely agree, this is not a messageboard, although it has some similar features. This is all about wriing entries for the edited guide - you can see some examples if you visit our Front Page.

Hello everyone. Like the green.
No discussion time limit on here then?
Well perhaps this shall be *the* new forum but I will certainly miss the old uncensored days of Radio 2 Jeremy vine forum.
This is like a commune for the rejects of society that just wouldn't conform.

ERic,
Cheers, got your message! There's a reply there now, so I think all it takes is more to be set up and there can be topics and so on to discuss within people's personal space.
Getting there, I think...
