The H2G2 Editors Started conversation Mar 6, 2003
We're adding a handful of new features to the site today. Many of these are relatively minor tweaks to the skins (eg a logout confirmation box, the introduction of Logout buttons to Classic and Alabaster skins and the addition of all of the volunteer badges to all of the skins), but here are the main changes you may notice:
Tree Views for Categorisation: The categorisation context for each Entry is now shown, in a series of links directly above each article.
Online status on Personal Spaces: A Researcher's online status is given - indicated by the 'eyes' icon next to the Researcher's name in the 'User Data' margin on the right.
Last Time Researcher Posted Information: The last time a researcher posted to the site has been added to all of the skins on the Personal Space pages.
'Unread Conversations' Indicator in Brunel skin: An asterisk in the blue bar at the top of the 'My Conversations' window enables the user to see if there are any unread conversations without maximising the screen.
If you spot any bugs in the new features, please post them to the Bugs Feedback Forum and we'll see what we can do.

I'm not entirely sure why I felt the need to do that, but I feel I also have to mention Natalie Portman and Soviet Russia.
Anyhoo, useful tweaks. Eds! (but not you Mina, you know why).

I wanted to look at the differences first. I suppose 'will change' in this case means 'has not been done yet'.
No eyes, no last posted...

Just a quick question on a slightly similar subject.......what happens if you don't log out and log off the internet?
Does it log off for you?
Been meaning to ask for ages - just not round to it before now!!

Well the asterisk on the conversations looks ok. Before this was posted I wondered what it was for.

Right, I've been looking round and I can't see any of the changes you mentioned...
Is it perhaps because I've been online since before they were added? Do I need to log out and back in again or something?
*tries that*

Nope...
My Conversations looks the same as ever, entries on the front page and my own "music sharing" entry do not show any categorisation contexts at the top, and no eyes on my space where you said they would be (and I am online ).
I've tried this in all the skins too

Hello there all,
It's impossible to make the changes all take effect at once - all I can say is that they will be 'phased in' as the afternoon wears on!

Hello Lieutenant,
The most visible changes are in Brunel, but there are changes to all of the skins (though they're mainly functionality things that are already on Brunel - such as Logout buttons). I think the most obvious change is the tree view at the top of each Edited Entry.
By the way, I meant to say earlier - huge thanks for Tom for making these changes happen (especially in the face of some extraordinarily confusing emails) and of course to Jim Lynn!
