I am quite stunned to have been asked by Lil to start a new conversation and will not be able to do justice to her usual succinct synopsis of the previous one.
But here goes: Lil has been kidnapped by the Webjello gang, but it near appears that some dubious character called The Celery (which is only edible raw with salt and salad cream in my view) is behind it. Lil is being held in return for an emerald and a manual. We have gathered together a posse to rescue her and are beginning to get to the end of the trail's beginning. In the meantime the Atelier has been ably protected, in spite of some damage to the plasterwork, by those brave Salonistas who remained behind to keep an eye on things. But if you are new to to the Atelier, please be careful when sitting on the sofa as there may be one or three Salonistas taking refuge under it at any one time depending on the DefCom level of the surrounding area.
There has been the usual lively discussions, including Israel and Palestine; continuity in adventure threads and hootoo in general; non-English words and language moderation; vague mentions of some football match or other ;bundt pans; caramelising blowtorches (my favourite piece of kitchen equipment that I'm only allowed to use when supervised); Solnushka announced her wedding; Marv has hopefully had his knees sorted; Montana is busy packing and is on the move, Latvia comes to mind but I think that may be something to do with the Eurovision Song Contest. After trying to wade through the backlog, I'm now !
My apologies if I've not mentioned those that I should have, but of course Caerwynn The Original Version is out with the posse and I'm just her Comedy Stunt Double so the blame is entirely mine and not hers!

Isn't it time you changed back Hati? I hardly recognize you in that spelling!

{[caer csd] Hati, I award you, in Lil's abscence, with a First to the Forum mug.

Thanks again everyone for the kind words. Here is a status update on teh condition of my knees. I can now hobble around the block that my folks live on (I am staying with them till I can drive myself around). I quit taking the pain meds as I am always wary about narcotics. and I can now get myself out of most, but not all, chairs in the house. I am trying to make friens with my dads cat, but he is having nothing of it. He seems to think that I am an invader on his turf (true to an extent) and he won't play nice.
That is about it for now, now that I can get sat down at a real computer I hope to be online a bit more.

{[caer csd] I completely forgot to say that I was pleased to hear about the planning permission, Lil.
Thanks for the s on my feeble attempt and I'm sure we shall all be greatly relieved when Lil is back in charge!
Glad to hear that your knees are continuing to improve, Marv. Have you tried giving your Dad's cat loving looks? Slowly close your eyes at him/her several times and see if that helps.}

Splendid work their Caer! And it reminded me that I haven't updated you all on The Big Day... Although not much to tell, except that we booked a restaurant (it turns out there are quite a lot of nice places in our area which just shows you how much I get out); I messed up Bro in Law's girlfreind's visa, but sorted the others; bought Boyfreind a suit (am am torturing him by making him wear a black three peice in the middle of July. It is the best way to garantee hot weather I think); and I brought the dress home. The veil is now seated in magnificent splendour on one of our loudspeakers.
I did, however, very nearly forget to actually invite people, so have been scurrying round doing that...

Glad to hear things are improving Marv.
So, while Caer's intro reminds me, we were discussing (amongst other things) Israel. What do peeps think to Bush's plan as announced yesterday? I'm not sure I like the Arafat removal clause. After all, he was elected and the various analysis I have read says that there is no real alternative. Also, as a Palestinian said on the news this morning, how are they to go about picking a new leader, they can't possibly elect one while no one is allowed out by Israeli tanks.
Oh, and welcome back agcBen

Hi
I hadn't realised that there was so little backlog to skip.
Congratulations for weddings and houses and for new improved knees! and
Yep - making him dress up as a penguin is a guarantee of good weather; besides which men do look nice in tails. *sigh*
(And cricket whites, *sigh* again).
Israel and Palestine? I am going to duck out of that one, since I know nothing about it.
All the best, all

Fate Amenable To Change Posted Jun 25, 2002
Sorry Munchkin, I'm all politiced out, so I shall continue talking about the Eden Project etc. I can't remember - is it self sufficient like those enormous bio spheres they built in some American desert years ago as (I think) an early experiment to see if they could build similar on the (e.g) moon. I know the E P isn't sealed or anything, but could it be in theory?
